I took it out of the box and was so happy to find that there were NO batteries needed, you simply push the "plunger" down and control the speed yourself.
It comes with 3 bottles of paint, and 10 round discs. The paint goes A LONG way. We did 10 paintings today and you can barely tell we used the paint. It is also washable, came off the table and hands super easily.
The discs are thick, but we made more out of construction paper using the disc as a template as suggested in the instructions and they worked just as well.
This will be a super fun activity for my daughter to do with her friends and no fighting as one can spin and the other can paint.
My only complaint is that one side of the platform you put the disc on is hard to get the disc tucked under, slightly defective. It really isn't a problem though so I won't bother sending it back.
Nice work Crayola.
It doesn't need batteries. It includes 3 color bottles, 10 round papers and a turntable. The papers are thick and have a tab so you can easily remove it from the well. One thing to remember, this activity is very messy, the colors are very fluid and will still flow on the kids' hands when they lift the finished work. So, make sure to have some paper towels around or some old newspapers for protection. The colors on the other hand are very easy to wash off, but make sure not to do this activity near any carpet or fabric couches.
All they have to do is to place the paper in the well, push the big button and squirt some colors on it. (It is a psychedelic experience, similar to my hallucinogenic moments whenever my wife asks me to bring the clothes to the laundry mat when our washing machine is broken. The multitude of colors tumbling inside those washing machines is a real trip).
If you ran out of paper, then you just have to make your own. Cut some paper with a hole in the middle and your ready for the next round.
Overall, for the $9.99 price I paid, The Crayola Color Twister became a hit with my kids and when we have art time, this is usually what they ask for first!
