I bought this for my 5-year-old daughter (by the way, this is "Model Magic Presto Dots," like in the photo, not "presto benders.") The directions look easy to understand, but you are supposed to press balls of model magic through the skeleton pieces from the inside to the outside, and use the clay that pushed through to create a "skin" that the dots of clay will adhere to, then cover the legs with "an even layer" of clay, also to create a "skin." By the time we were done with putting on the skin, there were only two packages of clay left to decorate with.

It seems to me this is a pretty good idea as a gift, but I would recommend you not buy it unless you have a supplementary stash of model magic, or unless you buy a few extra packs of model magic to go with it.

By the way, it took about 45 minutes altogether to complete this craft. Once completed, you have a toy, albeit a little too fragile for rougher play.
