So even though it seems like there are a myriad of colors to choose from, you have one "tan" type color, and the rest are a variation of really dark brown. There is no good color for a light complexion. I guess they just assume Caucasians will have to live with that crappy peach color in the regular marker box. It actually does a lot better as a set of markers for hair color, rather than skin color.

These markers definitely met my expectations. I am a homeschooling mother of 6, and we draw illustrations continually while we learn our lessons. We have had to be very patient when coloring pictures of people, while the children take turns with the very few tan/beige/peach/light brown colors we could find in our regular sets of crayons and markers. And, we had many "complaints" that the right color for coloring in "skin" could not be found. But these markers definitely solved that problem. Their choice for eight different skin tones are wonderful and cover a wide range. These certainly exceeded my expectations. I love that they are washable, too, which means we can use them with a paintbrush and water to paint lighter tones with any of the markers. These colors have a nice variety of undertones, too. Some have the more yellow undertones, and others have the more pink/red undertones. And, I am assuming these will have the same longevity as our other Crayola markers. I will post an update if I find otherwise. I have been searching for "skin tone" markers, crayons, and colored pencils for quite some time. This set is definitely the best I have found after looking at dozens of products.

Loved the fact that crayons came out with multicultural colors for skin tone. I color a lot and always tested the different colors that came in the other packages of markers for accurate skin tones but was never satisfied. I have used Crayola brand since I was a kid. The quality and vibrant colors have remained throughout the years. It’s the only brand I buy and will continue to do so. A fantastic product.

I decided to try my hands at illustrating, starting with my son's book. This isn't for-profit just FUN!!!! Of course, I didn't want to spend bundles on the artist markers like Copic so I turned to Crayola. I got the Crayola Super Tips from Target, but it didn't have good flesh tones. What was a girl to do? Lo and behold, Crayola came out with an array of flesh tone markers in its Multicultural marker set. I couldn't wait to receive these babies. I haven't used them yet (maybe I'll make a video when I do), but I tested out the colors: tan, bronze, mahogany, beige, terra cotta, sienna, tawny, and golden beige. The colors are perfect, perfect, perfect for almost any realistic shade of skin that you can think of. Also, they will add value in doing scenes from nature as well as laying down undertones for other colors. I've heard some artists complain about buying the expensive flesh tone marker sets which had no realistic flesh tones. Leave it to Crayola to kick butt in this department. Colors are their business and they do it well for cheap.

Great Skin Tone Colors

My six-year-old granddaughter is a prolific artist and story-teller and I've told her that I'll be her supply-source for the markers she uses. Since her illustrations are populated with people of all ethnicities, skin tones are the first colors used-up in any new set of markers I purchase. I was THRILLED to find this multicultural color pack for sale on Amazon - so much better than trying to find individual colors in the art supply area of my local craft store - and so much less expensive! The colors are great and long-lasting - the usual excellent Crayola quality we've come to expect. So why only Four vs. Five stars?? Because they're a bit thick, not a nice thin marking point for all the details in her drawings, and the conical tip prevents her from being as careful as she wants to be.

This product is excellent. Our family live in a village which is pre-dominantly White British and as such my daughter is amongst the 5% of children identified who are from a different ethnic group. Whilst we are very much accepted in the village, it means as a mixed race family that we have to work harder to promote a positive sense of identity in our house. It was purely curiosity when I did a search for multi-cultural colour pens and was very surprised that they actually existed. I therefore couldn't resist purchasing them. In my view, Crayola should promote this product a lot more especially as our society is becoming even more multi-cultural. I wonder if in years to come, they will need to review the colours!! Crayola also provide a pack of crayons and pencils in the same range. I didn't choose these as my daughter prefers felt tip pens. The only criticism I have is that Crayola only do this range in thick felt tips. I would have preferred these with a smaller nib for when we are colouring in faces, arms and legs. I have recommended this product to friends and to my work colleagues when doing identity work with children.
