I bought this because I am a hard-core science geek and I have a lot of very powerful magnets to play with. The product works exactly as described except for the long-span reaction, which is supposed to be a fluid-type reaction where it smoothes out and looks like a little droplet. It never really smoothes out, even after a week the quarter-sized glob I was testing held ridges and my fingerprint, although it did spread out pretty well. (That whole issue may be due to the added magnetic properties, which can reduce the liquid reaction state.)

I just want to warn everyone who is thinking about this product for a small child: it s very cool, great way to learn about magnetism and hexotropic substances (latter for older students, obviously) the way that it is made magnetic is by suspending ferrous particles in the putty. These stay in the putty fairly well. (no detectible magnetic reaction reduction after 3 weeks of 3-4 hours/day being magnetized and demagnetized repeatedly) HOWEVER... They can, and DO, come out. Even if you play with it for a few seconds, I recommend passing the included magnet over your fingers and hands and washing well because they HURT BAD when you get one in your eye. I learned this lesson the hard way and just wanted to let parents, teachers, nerds, geeks, and all the other people who might touch this stuff so that they can avoid it.

I bought this item just as a fun toy to squeeze and play with.

However I was disappointed. The putty is not very magnetic and will really only work with really strong magnets. I was disappointed to find out that it will not pick up metal objects unless it is magnetized.
On the plus side it was very fun to squish and play with.
Overall, it was an okay product, probably too much money though.

This is my first video I've made for amazon. I had a sore throat, so I did not put up audio, just text. In my video I tried to mostly show the abilities of the product instead of my opinion of it. I would appreciate constructive feedback on how to make future videos better.

The liquid glass putty was more flexible and weighed less than I anticipated, reminded me of silicone caulking. The picture was taken about 20 minutes after the putty was placed on the crystal. While working with it, it quickly filled with bubbles and the surface became opaque, but it clarified after a minute or two.

I absolutely LOVE THIS PUTTY. I've had it for about five minutes and I can tell I'm never going to put it down. The color is absolutely amazing. Get the Super Scarab color. It's the best, I love it so much. It's amazing. If you're going to but any one, buy Super Scarab, and it's a much bigger tin than expected. Since I live in Australia the contents were melted all together but you can get it out easily and it works just the same. It's amazing. BUY THIS, I WAS HESITANT WHILE I WAS CONSIDERING TO BUY IT BUT YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. BUYYY ITT (ALSO THE COLOR IS MUCH BETTER IN REAL LIFE SERIOUSLY jUST BUY IT)

I first saw this putty when I was about 10 years old. Begged and begged my parents to buy it for me but it just never happened - now here I am as an adult, and bought it for myself!

What I like about it:
-Fun to play with
-Twist, tear, stretch, dangle, make crackle bubbles..list goes on.
-VERY bouncy.

What could have been better:
- 3oz is not a while lot. It is enough to comfortably fill your hands IF you have small hands like I do! My friends with average to large sized hands could use a bit more.
-It doesn't "puddle up" as fast as I thought it would.
-The colors are nice, though slightly "cheap" and acrylic looking when not smooth (so any time other than when this has been left alone for ~1hr, it will look dull)

Excellent stress reliever (slowly squishing this stuff is GREAT!) and good for people with anxiety. I would supervise any use with kids because if this gets into a carpet, it won't be coming out. Overall, this is a fun fiddle toy.

This review is in two parts, first Thinking Putty, second the individual color review.

Thinking Putty - This is basically silly putty. Same feel, texture, material (silicone, which doesn't dry out), etc. What is different though is that you get a lot more then those small and even big egg shells. You get 1/5 a pound, or 3.2 ounces. Basically the tin covers your entire palm area easily. Although the tin is half full so it isn't too hard to put it back in.

The other difference is that these come in much better colors, well unless you like the coral pink of silly putty. These colors make Thinking putty special. You can get all the primary colors, red, white, black, blue, green, etc. OK, those aren't hard to imagine. Then there are metallic and electrics. These I believe have mica in them. They are shiny and have swirls slightly darker and lighter colors. I say slightly. Think of a pearl or dull metal. Then there are the color changers. The use heat to change color to a lighter version of the color. Cool to return to the original shade. And the glow in the darks. One color during daylight, another at night. And these do no use the glow material they used 10-20 years ago. This is more expensive but glows some 10X longer. And then there are two special colors. Magnetic, which is slightly or slowly if you prefer magnetic. And glass, which is clear.

Is thinking color kids? No. Give them silly putty. It is cheaper. If they love that, then give them this. Also this is called thinking putty because it is for adults to mush around while they are thinking. Or think of it like a stress ball.
