take over or interfere with the original premise...... they just add another layer of interest. The story moved along at a great pace.
I got so involved I couldn't put it down. Looking forward to the third book in the series.
This was a delightful story from Ms. Burns. I enjoyed the camaraderie between Maggie and her down to earth sister, both of whom shouldered the burden of running the family inn. The dialogue between them was snappy and humorous. Their befriending of 'the ghost' added a boost of interesting occurrences and gave some insight into the 1920's lifestyle he came from. I loved the way Maggie was always trying new recipes out on her sister and Alex, revealing her true love of cooking, rather than inn-keeping. The sexual attraction between Maggie and Alex was evident, and ended in some tastefully executed love scenes between the two. The added conflict of the ex's return had me wanting to shake Maggie until her teeth rattled, but I especially enjoyed the "ghostly resolutions" to her problems.
Maybe it's my affection for Blue Bell ice cream, which is located in Brenham, that had me thinking sweet thoughts about this book, but I enjoyed it tremendously. Well done, Ms. Burns!
