We didn’t get to hear much about Sawyer in the previous books. He was the elusive brother who was always on a secret mission. He made small appearances during the holidays and weddings of his other siblings, but he always had this air of mystery to him so us fans have been eagerly awaiting his story. And J.H. Croix did not disappoint! Sawyer and Violet meet at the hospital when he comes to get his blood drawn before surgery. There is an instant attraction that singes the pages. They go on a couple of dates but spend a lot of time with their mutual friends having group dinners where they can barely keep up with the conversations around them because they are about to burn up from the heat they generate just being in the same room together. However, Violet has had a lot of loss in her life and had decided that love just wasn’t in the cards for her. Can she open her heart and work through her issues? Will Sawyer stay in Diamond Creek or go back to the military?
Steamy love scenes. Real life issues. Another home run from one of my favorite authors.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of the book.
I am in love with Sawyer and Violet's story. This is also my first time
reading Ms Croix work and I am not disappointed.
Sawyer was injured by an IED and returned home to recuperate. Before the surgery,
blood needed to be drawn and in comes Violet, the phlebotomist. One look and it was instant
attraction. Sawyer needs to figure out what to do with the rest of his life. Violet suffered a loss that she
does not want to get involved with anyone. Sawyer would do anything to have Violet in his life.
I love how the story flows and the characters are so well developed. The chemistry between Violet and Sawyer
were so hot and amazing.
Will Violet take a chance at another shot of happiness with Sawyer? You will have to one click to find out.
He meets Violet at the hospital as he is preparing for his last surgery. There is an instant attraction and the two can't be in the same space without wanting to jump the other. Violet is an only child, raised in New York. As a youngster she suffered from leukemia but has been free of cancer for over a decade. She is living life to the fullest but she has had her share of pain and heartbreak. She avoids relationships because the chemo left her infertile. Her ex-fiancé ended their engagement when she discovered she could not have children. Rather than go through that heartache again she just avoids men and relationships. However, the Navy SEAL will not give up on her. Their journey is an interesting one as they move on with their lives and share their pains with others.
It is a good storyline and I would recommend the book as a very sexy informative read.
SPOILER--- I do wish the author had found some other words for "channel". It was a little overworked. Also, at the first of the story we learn that the hero is a Navy SEAL. It really wasn't necessary to tell us again and again and again every time his career choice was mentioned. Just saying "his time in the Navy" or the special team or whatever but we got the picture and didn't need it to be mentioned all the time. I did get a little tired of the heroine panting like a dog every time he came near but then pushing him away AFTER they had sex. For goodness sakes girl either go for it or walk away. I thought she was over the top being indecisive. He tells her how he feels and she doesn't believe him. WHY? She bothered me but I don't want to discourage anyone from reading the story. My issues may not be yours. It is a good story and one does come to love Alaska and all that it has to offer.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. . .
