- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2016I had read each of them when they were first published but, like any worthwhile literature, they withstand the test of time. It only took until page 3 before I laughed out loud and that reaction alternated with head-shaking, horrified, agreement/recognition as I read through each page. Tom Tomorrow has managed to avoid becoming numb in the age of the post-ironic shrug, and can deliver devastating insights into the state of our public discourse in just a few, careful drawn and written panels. Long before 'The Daily Show' was was skewering politicians with video clips of their own contradictory statements, This Modern World was doing it with a cartoon. His comics routinely wake me from my own numbness, even to the hypocrisies of my own opinions, and there is no greater impact that a writer can have. This collection starts with 2014, and basically every page remains relevant and funny! Don't let the great artwork and fun characters like 'Droney - the Friendly Surveillance Drone', President 'MiddleMan', or 'The Incredible Trump' fool you - this is intelligent, thoughtful writing (with bite) that leaves you laughing.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2016Well, I actually purchased this book. Didn't get a review copy or otherwise have the book forced upon me. Sheesh. As usual with Tom Tomorrow, the book contains hilarious and sardonic takes on our crazy, mixed-up world. If you're looking for "fair and balanced" coverage of news events and nutty right-wing conspiracy theories, by which I mean books that reinforce your view that the country needs to be "Made Great Again," move along, there's nothing to see here. If you want insightful confirmation that the latest crazy thing you heard on the Interwebs was not something you dreamed, then this is the book for you. When the political class of this country becomes so whacked out that even Jonathan Swift would seem ho-hum in comparison, Tom Tomorrow is one of those courageous humorists that is willing to lay it all out there. Mark Twain would be proud. Buy the book, support intelligent life on Earth.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2016My review will be brief. I am a subscriber to Dan's email list where I get the cartoon of the week every Sunday. He's just a wonderful thinker and amazing cartoonist. I just don't get how he can *nail* the faces of real people in cartoon form. Maybe he traces photos of them - they're that good. Anyway, this is just a hilarious take on the past 18 months. You won't regret buying it. Thank you, Dan and have a (relatively) peaceful holiday season. (Oh No! The Trump Word Police are scanning for the word "holiday"... they're at the door knocking... Sparky! Sparky! Hellllp!)
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2016I first discovered This Modern World as a college student back in the Clinton years. Since then, Tom Tomorrow has been an island of sanity for me in some troubled political waters--pretty much my entire adult life now.
Over time (e.g. 8 years of Bush Jr.) it is easy to habituate to things that would have shocked us in previous times. Tom Tomorrow never succumbs, never loses sight of what should have been. In that way, he's a little like The Man in the High Castle, feeding us visions of alternate realities that in turn illuminate our own reality.
Crazy is the New Normal is a recognition that we're in uncharted territory. As I write this, most of America is wondering what comes next. Crazy is the New Normal provides the backstory in the laugh/cry way that Tomorrow does so well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy is the New Normal is a great example of how Tom Tomorrow can make you laugh
Tom Tomorrow is one of the clever political artists out there. While sitting back and digesting this book of his work from the past 2 years, Tom Tomorrow has an unique approach and style to strike you over the head with the classic humor of making you realize how truly crazy the past 2 years have been politically here in the U.S. Crazy is the New Normal is a great example of how Tom Tomorrow can make you laugh, smile and cringe all at the same time with regards to the recent/current US political turmoil and election process. Buy this book and read a few cartoons each day to add some brilliant humor to your day. Would make a great gift too with the December holidays approaching. Looking forward to T.T.'s future work!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2016If it weren't for Tom Tomorrow and a like-minded small group of humorists, I'd have killed myself by this point in this election cycle. Really, what more can I say? This cartoonist is ever on top of his game and the latest offering does not disappoint. Of course I read them all the day they came out, but it's just as good reading them again. I'll be putting this next to my 25 Years Of Tomorrow on the shelf, within easy reach. And I'm reading them all with my kids so they can really understand what is going on in the world.
Thank you Tom Tomorrow! You are my superhero.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2016Tom Tomorrow's acerbic, pointed, yet always hilarious strip was my source for the best political humor since long before Jon Stewart and Bill Maher came on the scene. In the tradition of George Carlin, his humor is both disconcerting and outrageously funny. This book is another winner and will provide solace to sympathetic souls over the next 4 (or 8? Years).
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2016Tom Tomorrow is a genius, not to put too fine a point on it. His political analysis, filtered through a surreal sense of humor, is spot on. I've been a fan for decades and will remain a fan until I join the choir invisible.
