Crazy Richard's Peanut Butter is the best healthy peanut butter you can buy. It not only has no hydrogenated oils it also has no salt. Bad peanut butters need salt to mask their bad quality of the nuts...not Crazy Richard's. You can taste the freshness of the nuts. Men's Health Magazine has voted Crazy Richard's one of their "Top 125 Foods for Men" for 3 years in a row now AND the only peanut butter they recommend. I bought the 6 pack and was amazed at the great price for something so healthy. I love the smoothness of the creamy and I love the nuts in the chunky...can't make up my mind. I switched to Crazy Richard's because I didn't want to feed my kids "peanut flavored Crisco!" It's the best!

So here's some interesting information. Crazy Richards's was originally made by a wonderfully eccentric, lovable and talented man who was also my piano teacher and good friend and he LOVED peanut butter. He owned a cranky vintage commercial peanut grinder he spent a lot of time repairing and modifying in his little factory so it could turn out his products, and his PB was the best you could buy; it was just that....peanuts and not crappy emulsified Jiff or Skippy. When the business sold, Krema began adding some peanut oil to "top off" the jars, something it never occurred for him to do ethically or for profit, and while I still buy the brand out of nostalgia the extra amount of oil is an unnecessary nuisance to mess with. He also made a chocolate peanut butter that was more of a boutique item, sold in smaller jars that lasted just a few minutes, Nutella isn't in the same ballpark let alone league. When you buy this, know it has a rich history despite its parent corporate brand; I'm just glad they didn't rename it and kept the label.

Having grown up on creamy JIF and later switching to Skippy Natural, I decided to try Crazy Richard's based on a friend's recommendation. It took a little getting used to (mixing, storage, etc), but now I wouldn't eat anything else. The only ingredient is roasted peanuts--no hydrogenated oils, palm oil, palm kernel oil, sugar, gums, or salt. Now when I taste the other brands, they just don't taste as peanuty! Also, Crazy Richard's is THE BEST peanut butter to use in cookie recipes; it not only tastes better, but its softer consistency at room temperature makes it easier to measure and mix.

Mixing: the peanut oil in natural peanut butter will separate at room temperature, but it can be a messy job trying to mix a new jar with the little space left when you open it. The trick is to turn the jar upside down for a few days beforehand. All of the oil will rise to the bottom of the jar which makes mixing much less messy. Then insert a single beater into a hand mixer, hold on tight to the jar, and let 'er rip. Once mixed, natural peanut butter will take a while to separate again, and is much easier to stir the second time around. If stored in the refrigerator, it will usually not separate before you can finish the jar. You can also store it at room temperature, but the consistency can sometimes be a bit soft.

Since peanuts are a natural product and can vary in oil content, I've had jars of Crazy Richard's that were perfectly creamy right out of the refrigerator; others were a little stiff and required 5 minutes at room temperature to make them spreadable. Either way, the taste is worth it.

Having not the culinary expertise of the the average kid regarding peanut butter(far from it)I found crazy richards (creamy)a speadable ,delicious treat.Served on wasa bread with cut banana or polaner jam (or is it jelly?)it a is cool diversion from the ordinary lunch meat fare and guess what, everything in it is good for you. And the best is it does`t stick to the roof of ones mouth. No sodium, low carb, and easily spread down on bread.

We tried alot of "all natural" peanut butters, both name brands and store brands but we kept going back to Crazy Richards. Many other brands contain sugar &/or salt in addition to peanuts. You must be through when you stir this brand. We keep it in the refrigerator, but a jar really doesn't last long enough to see it separate around here :)

I've been eating this peanut butter for years because it was recommended by a men's health magazine. I used to order it straight from the manufacturer (they sell fruit cakes too), but Amazon's site is easier to navigate and order. The taste is good, although I think my kid's brand tastes more like roasted peanuts. One caveat: there is about a 1/4 inch layer of peanut oil inside each jar, on top of the peanut butter, which you have to stir around with a butter knife or something, until the peanut butter softens up (kinda like we used to have to do in the old days). BUT YOU ONLY HAVE TO STIR THE PEANUT OIL ONE TIME. After that, if you put it in the refridgerator, the peanut butter stays soft. If you like cold (and soft) peanut butter, this is definitely the choice for you. Also, this peanut butter has only one ingredient: peanuts.
