SAFE USE GUIDANCE

Protective eyewear must be wore while using.
Always be aware of the beam location. Keep it away from people's eyes and heads. Watch out for reflected beams from glass and shiny surfaces.
Unplug the laser head when not in use. The laser beam is controlled by the fan speed of your printer, if you start a regular print job without unplugging it, the laser will be on when fan speed increases.

This works great for what it is. The speed is a bit slow to get a good burn on plywood and it takes alot of work to get the adjustments correct to burn the correct size and position. However if you take the time this product is a good inexpensive alternative to a standalone laser engraver product.

Be careful with an Ender 5

As soon as I plugged everything into my Ender 5 pro, the built in circuit protection that is meant to be a step down converter from 24v to 12v completely fried. I was able to scrap it and put it my own buck converter, but be careful with the included components, could cause a fire if you put it into the motherboard case. After using my own converter, it works as it should.

Only thing I disliked was the software I has to use but that had nothing to do with the product here it works just as it's suppose to it was easy to hook up the magnets where strong enough so it didn't move around the laser focused as needed and it definitely engraved some stuff don't expect to cut anything thick with it very clean and you have to do many passes over to get through cardboard even but you can cut paper with it easy!

Unit works, kinda sucks you need to literally rip your printer apart to swap this in. Laser isn't that powerful, burns wood well, metal however it just etches the surface, very tricky to get dialed in. Wasted countless hours dialing this in for sub par results. Would not recommend or ever purchase again.

Didn’t work on ended 3 pro. The laser would turn on. Then the printers screen would freeze. Then the laser would shut off sometimes or would remain on and I would have to turn the machine off. Will change review when the issue is fixed.

Since day 1 I noticed the fan never turned on however I've only done quick test engravings and I thought the fan would possibly come on with temperatures. Tonight I finally did a large slow engraving. After about 30 minutes the laser started acting strange, low power then high power at random. Felt it. The body was extremely hot to the touch. Burned my finger slightly. And the fan was still not spinning. I guess I received a defective unit. Easy to replace but frustrating.

Less then 3 months in and the lens has a burn through it. No longer functional.. frustrating

UPDATE: I reached out to sainsmart asking for just a replacement lens. They expressed me a full replacement unit. They did not ask for proof or even for me to return my old unit. Amazing customer service. Will definitely order from them again.

Burned my main board.

I really wanted to like this one.
It arrived in time and feels like good build quality; I installed it on my Ender 3 according to the (somewhat minimal) instructions and did a fast test - The laser powered on/off alright by controlling the fan.
I then tried to run a small engraving with it and after a few seconds - saw a spark fly off from the mainboard and it burnt out.

I later did the mistake and tried it again with another board (a non-stock one, silent one), ending with the same result (that one's kind of on me, should have learned my lesson after the first time).

I don't usually like leaving negative reviews when the product is as advertised, but I thought others should be warned about this...

Laser u it good, power supply danger

Let's face it, you get what you pay but and unprotected power supply/ step down converter is really unprofessional. Shame on me as I managed to get a short (converter touched printers metal frame) but it could have been covered at least with shrink tube from manufactur.
Other then that it will engrave various soft materials and may be good for beginners.

I've buyed this product 1 month ago. The laser definitly stop working after 10 minutes. I returned the product because a lot of customer sais that the first laser they receive have burned. After few weeks waiting (returning, refund, Buy New one), tried the product and BOOOMM, the laser stop working for no **** reason after 10 minutes. The little module for connection to the board looks perfect, my board still working (for 3D printing). That's really great to wait for a product that work only 10 minutes.

My suggestion ? Wait for other compagny that start to produce this kind of laser. I see other product that they have a protection screen around laser (this one, you need to wear glasses), you don't need to plug-unplug the laser and they are REALLY fixed to the printer, not just a magnet ... really a magnet to fix a potentialy dangerous module ? And the magnet for Ender 3 Pro just fix on half the surface. I'm always afraid that the laser module fall and burn something. It's like put wood wheel on your car ... Anyway, check for another compagny for this laser. This product have a lot of cheap element (all the instructions on the product are mandarin, including warning
.. come on.

Just like the other reviews, the little tiny control board sparked and died, my fan power was only at 67% as i was trying to find a baseline of when it would start engraving.... now it ruined my 80 dollar motherboard. If you have a 24v printer DO. NOT. BUY. THIS. it does not work with 24v printers and I wish that I had just heeded to the warnings that others have posted.
