Enhance your purchase
Create the Future is an exciting, highly-visual guidebook for disruptive thinking, innovation, and change, paired with The Innovation Handbook, an updated version of the award-winning book, Exploiting Chaos. The 360-page bestseller is loaded with the same tactics, tools and frameworks that Gutsche's team uses to accelerate 700 of the world's most powerful brands, billionaires, CEOs and NASA. In short, you are capable of much more than you think, and our current period of chaos in presenting you with a unique window of opportunity. COVID-19 has entirely reshuffled the deck, and changed consumer needs. Millions of businesses have already been disrupted, many more are about to fail, and yet, new consumer needs are creating an opportunity that could reshape your future. Throughout history, we know that chaos reshuffles the deck, changes consumer needs, switches who is in the lead, and creates unprecedented risk and opportunity. Chaos causes most people to retreat - but not always. Disney, CNN, Square, HP, Apple, Fortune Magazine, Uber and AirBnB are just a few examples of companies that started during periods of rampant chaos and global economic recession. Crisis and chaos CREATE opportunity, if you know where to look. The challenge is that your own success, neurological wiring, past decisions, and "7 Traps of Path Dependency" make it more difficult for you to realize your full potential.
In our post-COVID era of chaos and disruptive innovation, there are so many great opportunities within reach; however, most smart and successful people miss out because of these proven proven traps. If you could overcome these traps, what could you accomplish? How much more successful could your plans for innovation and change, actually be?
This unique, visual book, teaches you how to think disruptively, providing specific steps to create real innovation and change. This book combines Jeremy's high energy, provocative thinking with tactics that have been battle-tested through thousands of his team's projects advising leading innovators like Disney, Starbucks, Amex, IBM, Adidas, Google, and NASA.
On top of all that, this is a double-sided book, paired with The Innovation Handbook, a revised edition of Jeremy's award-winning book, Exploiting Chaos. KINDLE UPDATE: Please note, this is a highly visual book, loaded with charts and graphs, which do not format properly on Kindle's technology. Accordingly, the author has removed the kindle version to prioritize the textbook and magazine-like experience to help you better find your next big idea.

From the Back Cover
Over 20 years ago, not long after I joined the staff of The New Yorker magazine, I met a young woman named DeeDee Gordon. She lived in Los Angeles, in a sleek modernist house up in Beachwood Canyon. She drove an immaculate vintage Pontiac Trans Am. She was young and hilarious and brilliant, in a completely unexpected way, and she had a job I'd never heard of before: companies hired her to figure out what was going to happen next.
Like many people, I assumed that next was an unsolvable mystery--that anyone who claimed to be in the business of telling the future was deluded, or worse. But then I followed DeeDee around for a while. I listened to the way she thought, and I soon began to realize that there was a real discipline and art to next: there were principles that could guide the way we thought about the future. I ended up writing an article about DeeDee Gordon and her work, called "The Coolhunt." It ran in The New Yorker on March 17, 1997, where--unbeknownst to me--it was read by an enterprising young man named Jeremy Gutsche. Gutsche decided to build an entire infrastructure around next, a network of correspondents around the world feeding their observations and predictions into a massive consumer-insight database. Jeremy is kind enough to say that I inspired him--which is, I'm quite sure, a gross exaggeration But even gross exaggerations are enormously flattering, so here I am, two decades later, returning the favor by introducing you to one of Jeremy's most ambitious projects to date.
You have in your hands a book about how to "Create the Future." Before you start, I'd like to offer a few thoughts about how to think about that question. Let me begin with the question of time. A lot of thinking about the future necessarily revolves around the chronology of future events. We can be pretty certain, for example, that one day science will cure dementia, or the internal combustion engine will be no more, or--in our fanciful moments--that human beings will be able to travel instantaneously through space, like they did in old episodes of Star Trek. The unknown is when those things will happen. 10 years? 30 years? Or has it already been figured out, and we just don't know about it?I think that question is best answered in parts. The first part is.... [Continued]

I have been an entrepreneur who has attended more workshops and been the beta tester for such gurus as Tony Robbins, Marshall Thurber, and the late Berny Dohrman founder of the controversial CEO Space. Oh yes and I studied with the late Bill Thaw co-founder of EST.
So I actually have experienced what Jeremy is writing about in his book long before he came on the scene!
Is it good stuff? Yes!
I did enjoy reading more about his own life and the stories he tells to illustrate his seven points.
Tony Robbins taught us about the groove the brain gets into after you continually do something which Jeremy discusses in the section on Neurological Shortcuts and myelin. Tony also taught us how to use NLP - neuro linguistic programming - to overcome the shortcuts.
I mentioned the late Berny Dohrman. He taught us a cool technique he called SWITCH which is similar to one Jeremy discusses. I wonder if Jeremy attended Berny's workshops.
Marshall Thurber the founder of both Money & You and Manifesting taught us the Airplane Scenario where your plane crashes and you must survive from its wreckage. I guess that led me to my later interest in over 20 years of teaching Situational Awareness, Preparedness and Survival!
So surely the new Millennials that Jeremy appeals to will benefit from what I learned decades ago!
You just can't overstate how useful the modern layout of this book is. My anxiety stays near the red zone, so even knowing I have a book i need to finish can tense my muscles, but not this one. The layout REALLY makes it low-pressure. It's designed so you can pick it up, open to a random page, and gleam a useful insight. It's packed with ideas to get your team moving, regardless of your industry. I look forward to reading a few pages every evening as I wind down, instead of boredom shopping on Amazon. 🤣 I've included some pics to illustrate what you can expect when you flip to random pages.

As well, the distinct visual layout is packaged with valuable data points on both current and future trending. The extra bonus of Jeremy's previous best selling "Exploiting Chaos" is just icing on the cake. I can continue to browse/read and take vicious notes on these observations for a few weeks while Jonesing on no sports programming. I got two copies, one to scribble my observations and notes, and the other one to add to my bookshelf. I've been to three Trend Hunter events, including the 2018 Toronto 3-day event, and can tell you this book is a living embodiment of the Trend Hunter team's philosophy and unique view of our future. Pick it up today.
Thanks Jeremy, and the Trend Hunter team, for helping all of your readers to become futurists in their own right.
