When I saw the Gakken Workbooks at Costco, I decided to get one for my son to try out. I'm really glad I did - the Gakken books work similarly to the Kumon workbooks in that they focus on learning via progressions. Each activity gets a little more difficult each time, but not so much that it overwhelms your child. Unlike the Kumon books that focus on one learning technique (such as mazes, letters only, or numbers only), the activities in the Gakken workbook change every few pages. There are 192 different activity pages, 3 pages of activity stickers (including reward stickers), and one wipe clean activity board. The activities include counting activities, mazes, tracing letters and numbers, matching, coloring, connect the dots, folding paper, cutting and gluing paper and sticking stickers on specific places on the page. Unlike the "Let's Get Ready" workbook, this workbook features a lot of "cut and paste" activities. The cutting doesn't get much more complicated than cutting small squares or rectangles out. That said, some of the activities may be a little more difficult to 2 year olds to do without a lot of help.

All the illustrations are bright and cheerful, there are tips on most activities for the parents to utilize, and there in information on how to hold a crayon correctly. The paper stock used in this workbook is durable and will withstand the pressure from "hard writers" for those who choose to a pencil instead of a crayon. The one thing I'm not impressed with in this book is the wipe clean board - it features a cake decorating activity. My kid loves this workbook - with this many activities, it definitely will keep your kid busy! Highly recommended!

Seriously.. some of you have preschool or kids in preschool but for those of you like me who are trying your hand at homeschooling or just simply getting a jump start... the Gakken Book collection (3 total) are rocking! I love how they are laid out & how they process in a very common sense way :) Each lesson builds on the other. Very colorful & fun! Brilliant!!! Nicely priced... and I just took my book apart using an exacto knife & but the pages in protective sleeves to use as dry erase or make copies of... it's been a great tool in getting my 2.5 year old interested in just learning :)

I have almost everything from the Kumon series for my 2 year old. And I can tell most certainly, this book is the best. It has a little bit of everything from all other work books. I like the size of this one, others are little. This book is giant. Cutting, drawing, pasting, coloring, it's full of fun exercises. I love that this one offers all kinds of activities, not just one activity per book like in Kumon books. I am truly impressed.

Most Sundays my son and family come over to visit, and today my daughter in law brought with them this "Let's Create (Gakken Workbooks)" by Jeanne Peloso. I was just totally amazed to see the interest in the workbook exhibited by my granddaughter, who just turned three. The book, through a variety of activities, helps children learn gradually as the exercises become ever so slightly more difficult as the child progresses from starting an exercise to its completion. Most everything a child of this age group would find fun is included. The book is brightly colored as are the pages within and activities include mazes and counting exercises, folding, simple cutting and gluing of paper. There's fun with coloring and tracing too, of numbers and letters. There are matching exercises and connecting the dots. And much more.

I'm delighted with the truly obvious fun experience my granddaughter is having while learning. It really is an excellent fun way to learn.

Perfect for my 3 year old learning to write. Simple and fun, but teaches them the basics. Plus it helps strengthen their hand and learn to trace. Used it for my son too.
