This author started her journey of doodling before 2004 and she does not make any claims that she started a new kind of art form. I like that she call it Doodling and suggest the person to draw whatever kind of shape or pattern that enter their mind which is a true spontaneously one-of-a-kind art form.
"Create While You Wait" is an affordable art form compared to other doodling pattern books, for example Zentangle (R) has lots of cool filled in patterns and books but if you are just looking for pure doodling from a true spontaneously way with no copying from pre-patterns and simply drawing for relaxation without all the Zen and Yoga for the mind theory of Zentangle then this book would work for you. I like this book because the author gives you freedom to draw and you are not told in detail how you can use her book and she does not ask for a donation if you profit from her simple 1, 2, 3 approach drawing doodling. This is an affordable way to teach children and others that do not have a large amount to spend on expensive doodling kit. With this author all you need is a drawing tool with paper. Carol Ross Edmonston (The Doodle Lady) drawing method is more economic because you do not have to keep buying titles to do your drawn fill-in patterns like you have to do with other doodling repeat patterns kits.
Also, this book is a great book for teaching artists and other professionals because of the price of $12.95 which makes a great required book for doodling abstract art classes and also it has an original story of a woman that used abstract doodling as a healing tool eased her worriers.
It is not a guided art form like some doodling books and it is not a premeditation doodling repeat pattern book, but the author does help to get you started on your own journey of doodling at home which she gives a simple 1, 2, 3 approach which she explains in her book. The author does include her own artwork to help the reader to get started in creating their own Doodling book. This book is meant to be carry with you as your own Doodling book/journal.
This book is an inspiration book of how doodling helped one lady refocus her mind from worry and stress through a new creative process of abstract doodling. The author explains in a short introduction of how doodling cast away her worrisome thoughts and eased her restless mind which was first published in 2003. The author encourage you to doodle to help you to relax, "if you want to move toward a life that is more stress free, just come and count with me - it's as easy as 1, 2, 3. . . . may your journey through this book inspire you to become the artist of your own life."
I recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a journal/workbook that has blank pages to do their own drawing of doodling and does not need pre-drawn filled in patterns to get them started.
If it's so crappy, why did I buy this? Cuz you don't get to actually look inside the book due to it's sealed plastic covering. I had read some good stuff on Carol Ross Edmonston, so I thought I would give this a try. The store I bought it from (not amazon...bad me) wouldn't allow me to open the plastic covering to see inside. So, as soon as I got into my vehicle, I opened it up, and saw the complete lack of content. The store wouldn't accept a return because the plastic had been opened.
Don't buy the book. Google "Carol Ross Edmonston" and you'll get her "instructions" for free. Save your money.
