*The full story behind the wildly successful documentary film, Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words*
Born into dire poverty in the segregated South and abandoned by his father as a child, Justice Clarence Thomas triumphed over seemingly insurmountable odds to become one of the most influential justices on the Supreme Court. Yet after three decades of honorable service, few know him beyond his contentious confirmation and the surrounding media firestorm.
Who is Justice Clarence Thomas, in his own words?
In the follow-up to the wildly successful documentary by the same name, Created Equal builds on dozens of hours of groundbreaking, one-on-one interviews with Thomas to share a new, expanded account of his powerful story for the first time.
Producer Michael Pack and Mark Paoletta, a lawyer who worked alongside Thomas during his confirmation, dive deep into the Justice’s story. Drawing on a rich array of historical documents and unreleased conversations with Thomas, his wife, and those who knew him best, Created Equal is a timeless account of faith, race, power, and personal resilience.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2022This is a riveting book. It is excerpts from long interviews with Clarence Thomas -- literally his own words. He had the kind of upbringing that is almost impossible for most people to understand. A grandfather who was very harsh and demanding, because he loved him so much that he wanted him to be able to do well in a world that was hostile to him. That grandfather, along with a loving grandmother and some awesome nuns at the school he attended, plus his own high intelligence and character, made him one of the greatest men of our time. Because it is Thomas telling his own story, you get a great sense of what he has gone through, many of them things no one would voluntarily do, but also the love he has experienced and continues to experience, and his pleasure at learning to use his talents for good. He enjoys life, even though he's constantly under attack, and likes meeting and talking to ordinary people that he and his wife meet on their RV vacations around America.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2023While the Main Stream Media demonizes this man as the second coming of Satan, the fact is this book is such a wonderful insight into a man who is far more intelligent, honest and giving than The Left credits him for. His upbringing is sad but par for the course for Southern blacks back in the 40's and 50's but his story is so inspiring to minorities who are told by the Democrat Party over and over again that "racism" is preventing them in 2023 from doing anything good with their lives. If you can overcome what Justice Thomas did in Democrat-run Jim-Crow Georgia in the 40's-50's, you can do anything.

I am constantly reading this 📖 book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2022Clarence Thomas is always a great subject and this book is not a disappointment. It is written in interview style and there is information I did not know. It is easily read and understood. This would be an excellent book for young adult to senior adult and much more uplifting than the some of the trash read in many high schools today. As usual I found Justice Thomas to be honest and open in his responses to the questions. He is a survivor with great moral compass. Disclaimer: I absolutely do not read hit jobs on Justice Thomas!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2023Justice Thomas’s recollections of his life and his explanation of Constitutional principles are so grounding for me. I think of his examples on so many levels in my own daily decision-making and situations I face, and this book lets his voice come through so that you can feel as though you have been in the room with him. He is one of my heroes.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2024Strongly suggest to read it
- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2024I learned quite a bit about the judge. Especially enjoyed reading about his early life.

I knew little about Him. Other than the Anita Hill “trial@. I recall at the time thinking he was guilty. Sadly didn’t research the matter at the time. Too busy working.
Let’s just say - now- wish he was My Boss! Frankly would like him as My friend too! A most remarkable remarkable man. Up there w/ my most fav Economist Sowell. Yes- both Black - just a coincidence. Both have the most amazing minds and understanding into Life’s Complexities. I fell in love with their minds! ❤️
