My mother recently moved to our area to be closer to family and brought with her several boxes of old photos and historic documents she inherited from both her and my late father's sides of the family. There was no rhyme or reason to their storage. A friend who is an archivist at a university library suggested this book as a good guide for my quest to get everything organized. It is full of practical information and set us on our adventure. We are not completely finished, but have made wonderful progress.

I have had ten or so banker's boxes filled with family memorabilia and photos stored in my attic for several years. Once my retirement arrived, I had made a commitment to go through all of it and organize it. Well, retirement arrived over three years ago, and I have yet to open one box! I recently watched several videos on YouTube about archiving, and the name of the author of this book, Margot Note, was mentioned a couple of times.
After having purchased and read the book, I believe I have been given more than sufficient information to move forward with this project. As I had suspected, a lot of proper archiving has to do with establishing an organizational plan at the start of the project and using various systems and tools to move through it. All sorts of media were dealt with in this book, which was particularly helpful in that regard. Also, the author gave specific recommendations regarding tools to use, when to use them, and all sorts of supplies that are available for archiving materials of various media.
Highly recommended!
