Works with game audio on PS4

I use this with my PS4 exclusively and cannot comment on it's use on PCs.
Pros:
-it works. allows me to use a BT headset with the ps4 (great for when other people are sleeping and you don't want to be too loud)
-Easy to pair
-Remembers devices (don't have to repair every time I turn on the PS4)

Cons:
-only transmits outgoing audio, no mic, so can't be used for in game chat.
-Bluetooth stability is about the same as that of the DS4 (which isn't that great)
-Switching audio sources is a pain

One thing I've learned is that if I leave this plugged into the PS4, it is the default audio output device initially. If I plug in a headset into the DS4, that becomes the new default. If I unplug the headset, the PS4 resets to the HDMI output (TV/Speakers). This is helpful if I want to switch the output but I don't want to go through a million menus or deal with removing the USB device.

Does not work as advertised on the PS4. Audio from the PS4 is fine but the microphone on my Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2 headset does not work when connected to a PS4. I bought this dongle specifically because it supports PS4. Both the BT-W2 and the Backbeat Pro 2 support the aptX Low Latency codex but the microphone does not work with the BT-W2 dongle.
Update- after researching this issue the microphone talk-back feature will only work with Creative brand Bluetooth headsets that use the "FastStream" audio Codex. This is not made clear on the packaging or the documentation of this product.

NO lip sync Issues! You can finally watch movies over bluetooth!

Awesome! I use this with the AvanTree bluetooth 40 hr battery life headphones. And there is ZERO lag. You can watch movies wirelessly!

There is only a few gripes I have with this transceiver:
1. It can only connect 1 device at a time. And only to headphones. Other bluetooth dongles can connect any number of various devices over bluetooth, BUT none of these bluetooth dongles are APTx LL. One day we will have our cake and eat it too.

2. The Mic in my AvanTree bluetooth headphone does not work through this Creative BT-W2. You need to confirm via support or Creative's website that the mic on your headphones will work with this. Also, if you headphones are not APTx LL, you will still see lag so make sure of that as well.

3. Price I wish it were a but cheaper, like 20 bucks or so.

Aside from those problems. This device is a 5 star product. Works flawlessly and without the need to install drivers by hand. Totally recommended.

The only reason I got this was for my wife. She doesn't sleep around the same schedule as I and stays up watching Vue or some other type of streaming service and that usually keeps me up as well. This paired along with her Beats solo headphones works perfect. This is only for sound output, microphone will not work with most Bluetooth headsets from what I've seen. Not saying it won't work with any, just haven't seen much success on anyone's part for the microphone to work.

Happy with the purchase

Bought this to achieve APTX connection to my bluetooth headphones. Simple to install (it presents to Windows as a generic sound card so no driver required). There is no way to tell if APTX is engaged except improved sound quality compared with inbuilt bluetooth on laptop (which is not APTX compatible). Jury is out on the SQ front as I have not done serious side by side comparison with uncompressed source material yet. Initial impression is a bit more clarity and smoother treble, but not a lot in it. This may be a comment on APTX vs A2DP, and not necessarily on this device, which seems to work well. Range is good even with intervening walls. I have roamed 10-15 metres from the device inside my home with no dropouts. Because it uses sound card driver you will need to manually switch drivers if you want to use another sou dcard (for desktop speakers for example). Happy with the purchase.

not worth it

I was willing to pay extra for this because Cisco Jabber wasn't connecting reliably to my Creative Aurvana headset. It works better now, but still disconnects occasionally. Not sure it was worth the extra money compared to other similar items, since it didn't completely solve the problem. The range is OK, but not as good as advertised.

mic function only works with specified headsets

Purchased this together with the Avantree 40hr Wireless Bluetooth 4.1 headset (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A0EAYDI/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0). Although the headphone works for audio out, the microphone function does not work. According to Creative, the microphone function only works with headsets which support "FastStream". The product page for this product does not state that, it just indicates that it works both ways. A quick search on Amazon didn't yield much in terms of bluetooth headsets which support this "FastStream" feature. The only one I found was a Creative headset. So beware if you want to use this for both audio output and for microphone input as it appears you are severely limited in which bluetooth headset you can use.
