Creative Sound Blaster Roar 2
Smaller, Lighter, Sexier, and Sweeter
The new variant of the critically acclaimed Sound Blaster Roar, the Sound Blaster Roar 2 is 20% more compact with the same five high-performance speaker drivers, cutting-edge design, and built-in 6000 mAh Li-ion battery. It is specially designed for people who not only appreciate portable speakers for their audio performance, but also for their looks. Wrapped in a stylish sleek housing, the Sound Blaster Roar 2 exudes understated sophistication of a well-designed audio instrument that continues to impress.
Bi-Amplified Design: Two Amps and Not One.
Most portable speakers utilize a single amplifier to reproduce the entire audio spectrum. With a single amplifier design, much demand goes into reproducing the lows and mids, which compromises the delivery of the highs. On the other hand, the Sound Blaster Roar 2 utilizes two amplifiers - one dedicated to driving lows and mids, and another is solely dedicated to deliver the high frequencies. This allows the speaker to produce uncompromisingly clear, high definition, and well-balanced music. The top-firing bass and mid-level driver is also laid horizontally, reducing the speaker's center of gravity, thus stabilizing it.
Dual Orientation Capabilities
The Sound Blaster Roar 2 has flexible placement options. You can choose to place the speaker horizontally for room-filling and balanced audio, or vertically for louder and more directed audio.
What's in the Box:
- Sound Blaster Roar 2

Five High-Performance Speaker Drivers
Despite being 20% smaller, the Sound Blaster Roar 2 houses the same premium five drivers as the Sound Blaster Roar. From the two far-field tweeters, a powerful subwoofer and two unobstructed passive radiators, which are beautifully machine-finished, every element of the design is thoughtfully considered to enhance your audio experience.
High Quality Wireless Audio Codecs
Not settling for just the basic sub-band coding (SBC) wireless transmission over Bluetooth, the Sound Blaster Roar 2 is also equipped with aptX and AAC high definition codecs that deliver high resolution, higher quality wireless Bluetooth audio.
NFC and Bluetooth
Simply tap to pair your NFC-enabled devices to the Sound Blaster Roar 2. You can also connect your Bluetooth smart devices wirelessly. With Creative Multipoint, you can simultaneously connect two Bluetooth stereo devices to the Sound Blaster Roar 2 and easily toggle between them.
PC/Mac Audio Enhancements
Connect the Sound Blaster Roar 2 to a PC or Mac via micro USB and it will function as a host audio device, like a powerful external Sound Blaster. PC or Mac users can also utilize the downloadable Sound Blaster Control Panel software to access SBX Pro Studio technologies such as SBX Bass, and SBX Dialog Plus.
Connect the Sound Blaster Roar 2 to your PlayStation 4 console via the micro USB cable directly.
Built-in MP3 Player and Voice Recorder
Play music directly from the Sound Blaster Roar 2. Simply insert a microSD card* that contains your favorite songs and press the Play button. You can also record audio and phone calls when you use the Roar 2 as a speakerphone.
microSD Card Reader
The Sound Blaster Roar 2 acts as your personal file manager that lets you transfer media between your computer and your microSD card*, using a micro USB cable.
*MicroSD cards of class 4 and above, up to 32GB. Audio formats such as MP3, wma and wav up to 320kbps.
8-Hour Battery Life
Enjoy up to 8 hours of non-stop music. Recharge your Sound Blaster Roar 2 with the included power adapter for fast charge and/or the micro USB for convenience. With its high-capacity built-in 6000mAh Li-ion battery, Sound Blaster Roar also acts as a charger for your smartphone, whenever you need backup power.
The Sound Blaster Roar 2 also comes with an integrated 3.5mm aux-in for connection to other analogue audio devices.

Fast forward and died suddenly today after 1 year and 6 months of use. Nothing zip zilch just won't turn on. Lasted 6 months past the warranty.
I have owned other Creative products that are still working after more than 5 years. I expected better quality from Creative.
UPDATE - Creative wanted $70 to look at my speaker (plus I would pay for the cost of shipping both ways) IF it was the battery they would replace it and I would have to pay for any additional costs.
I remembered that I had purchased a Square Trade warranty. I contacted Square Trade and they also thought it was a battery failure. SqTrade sent me a shipping label I sent it in for a repair. They could not repair the speaker so I am getting a refund of the full purchase price.
Disappointed that this speaker lasted 18 months (especially at that price), I also think Creative wanting $70 to look at a speaker that should have lasted longer given the price is shameful.
Thankfully Amazon suggested the Square Trade warranty when I purchased this speaker. Working with Square Trade was awesome so now I have money to buy another speaker.
If you buy the Creative Roar Pro without Square Trade you will be very disappointed and either forced to spend more to have Creative diagnose your problem or stuck with a paperweight. Take the cautionary reviews seriously. Good look!
I'm looking for a replacement speaker thanks to Square Trade!
Best Buy or any of the other retailers who carry such units and give them all a listen and look at the features they offer and then buy the one that meets your needs in terms of both sound quality and features. Having said that, for me the Roar has more features than any of the
competing units. That is simply fact and not opinion. Most of the products that are in this category seem to be made well but in my opinion, the Roar seems to be made just a little sturdier. I haven't tested that notion by dropping my Roar on the floor but in my hands it simply feels
more robust. Back to the sound question.....since I seriously doubt that many users of portable bluetooth speakers plan on doing serious
listening that entails sitting in a quite room and doing nothing but listening intently to these little portable speakers, consider how they will actually be used. Most people are playing them as background music while they are doing other things such as sitting on the beach or
cooking on the grill or in the kitchen, etc. Critical listening ain't happening here. So let's not talk about sound imaging or speaker spatiality etc. That said, for me, I don't like speakers that have a bass response that overwhelms everything else. I want a more natural sound, One that is
more balanced to my ear. Because of that, I will gravitate towards something like the Roar. If you are one who wants more bass, then you will assuredly better like the sound of any Bose product as they have made a fortune producing bass heavy products for the last 50 years. Again, for me, the features are a big deal and the Roar excels inn that regard. I won't waste your time talking about them as you can look such things up just as easily. And price is a big deal to me. The Roar 1 can be had for $99 now.... so I bought one. The Bose is $299 the last time I checked,...three times the cost of the Roar. So simply put, I loved the price of the Roar, the feature list is unmatched, it feels like military grade construction and lastly, I thought the sound was GOOD. That's why I bought it.

What I was after is a portable replacement for the B&W so looked at the Bose Sound Link Mini which was miles ahead of all other speakers I had heard before, but I did find the sound to be very bass heavy and somewhat processed and also lacking in shear volume. After almost giving up I stumbled cross a review on the Creative Soundblaster Roar that sounded very promising and has rave reviews in the US with some 800+ reviews on US Amazon.com most of them 5 stars.
So I took a punt with out even hearing it and in summary, well to say this speaker has impressed me is the largest understatement I could make. It is just awesome in every department, the sound is rich and crisp with the bass being well delivered that is perfect to my taste.
The power easily fills a large room with a sound more akin to a full blown HiFi, there is no distortion even on full volume and with the capability of joining a second one together for wider stereo I have now sold the B&W which was good but like most label brands vastly over priced and with the money buying a second SBR.
Superb sound, Sorry Bose it has you beaten.
Very loud with no distortion
Superb finish and build quality.
Terra Bass and Roar buttons add great sound
Great Battery life, had 9 hours on one charge.
May be to many features that are unnecessary, Like attack alarm (Why)
No case and the case you can buy is terrible.
Summary, Awesome go buy one.
Anyway, works well with my phone which I have had to stock with music as my car does not support iPods. Sounds as good as my obsolete collection of iPod docking speakers without the obsolescence.
There are no tone controls or remote options, but there is apparently a utility to fiddle with the thing available on the PC - I can't see why I would want to bother as it sounds great as it is.
It has a substantial battery so lasts a long time and as it can get power from USB you also have the option to use it with a battery pack as with a phone - say if you are off camping. It would also work as an in-car player - I have a van and do very occasional long journeys, this would be easy to place in the cab and use there, saving spending money on something that I would rarely use.
I am somewhat of an audiophile with a small recording studio who spent a long time trying to find the right product. I'm glad I settled on this one. I've done the hard work so you don't have to...
You won't be disappointed. The sound is rich and it has smooth Bass. I'm thinking of purchasing another as you can pair them up. I can only imagine that a pair of these would be excellent and I'm looking forward to finding out.
I would recommend this speaker to all my friends.
You need to charge it for three hours out of the box but after that you press and hold the pairing button and connect your blue tooth device and start playing your music. There are some soft buttons on the top that can be easily found by touch alone, so you can easily adjust the volume if you have the speaker on a high shelf Recommended.
A cracking product from Creative and I would highly recommend if you are looking for something to play music in a small room and to take out with you.
This speaker is the best portable speaker I've listened to, and it's incredible for its price. The roar function makes the sound lots better; I listen to it with roar on all the time. The bass button gives every song great bass, but this speaker isn't just about bass, it has a great range of sound.
In terms of volume, it's the same as the Beats Pill XL (which is £100 more). Also the bass is better on this than the Beats Pill XL.
The only downside is the battery life but what can you expect from such a loud speaker that's so small. It's very portable and you don't even notice carrying it around in your bag all day.
A great speaker
