We're using them for a humble little home theater and as computer speakers, they're pretty easy to move between different devices. Plug and play at its best.

We do not use them to host loud dance parties, I imagine you'd want something bigger if you want the whole neighborhood to know you're throwing down. But they can certainly fill a single room with noise.

These speakers are pretty ok on their own, but with the subwoofer... Wow, I have to say they are a worthy investment!!! This set costs almost double with the subwoofer included, but it's REALLY worth it. The sound quality is amazing and the bass is just the right boost with the subwoofer. Not booming all crazily the point where there's too much and you get a headache, but it just hits that sweet spot. I would say it's definitely worth the buy, it's a great sound system for your desk, probably the best usb powered sound set you can get at this price. My only complaint is that it doesn't get very loud. It's ok if you want to use just at a desk and you're in close proximity but not if you like to play somewhat louder music and listen in a different part of the room unless the room is pretty small. And this is already with the 5v adapter, not plugged into a computer usb slot, but plugged to a wall. It was an easy fix for me though because I just installed a volume booster plugin to my internet browser and I was able to get these to go even louder. Very happy with my purchase!

About two years or so ago I purchased this product for the first time to replace some PC speakers that had gone bad. I based my decision on the review at pcmag.com. I was blown away at the clarity of sound, the amount of sound it can put out, and the nice bass sound it provides from the subwoofer without being "boomy" and overpowering. And the price couldn't be beat. I didn't need another set of speakers now, but for the price, I thought I'd get them as a backup, in case something happened to my other set, or for possible future use with another device. I can't really recommend them enough.
