Managers, as well as anyone who wants to better understand how companies work and what elements are necessary to make and keep them successful, will appreciate Catmull’s insight on leadership, nurturing creative environment, and protecting it from invisible threats. The vision he shares isn’t just theory, but something Catmull lived through and thought through. His vision, based on his own experience, is made even more valuable by Pixar’s success. After reading the book, I constantly find myself quoting the concepts and examples described there when talking to my husband or friends about their jobs or my own and discussing what works, what doesn’t, and why.
I was also surprised to find out from the book that Steve Jobs was one of the co-founders of Pixar alongside with Ed Catmull and John Lasseter. Whoever is fascinated by Steve Job’s extraordinary personality and wants to learn more about him will certainly enjoy the book.
I don't usually write reviews but felt that this book deserves me taking the time to share with others what I believe is one of the books worth spending time reading.
