A great book that is geared toward children, but fun for adults to read too. Daniel Cohen goes into some detail, but mostly keeps it simple when explaining the historical UFO sightings. He also mentions Men In Black and Mothman, both of which have been associated with UFOs (at least according to the book). As a child, it was one of my favorite books on the paranormal, and now as an adult, I gave it to my eight-year-old son to read, and he absolutely loved it. If you want to give kids an introduction to Ufology, this book is a great place to start!

I know this book is kind of old and dated, but I read it all the time as a kid. I must of checked it out from my elementary and middle school libraries 100 times. After doing some research I am glad that I can finally find the book so I can own my own copy.

I read this book at least three times. It's obviously geared toward kids but I think anyone can read it. Some of the things in it are factually incorrect though. For example, it turns out that there were witnesses in the Lonnie Zamora case(although I don't know when that information came to light). Over all, a very good book though.

This book set me up for the overbearing fear of Grays I have had for the past 21 years. I don't know what prompted me to ask about an alien book when I was in 3rd grade, but I regret it. If I could go back in time I would slap this book out of my little child mittens and say "Don't do it Little Damon, you can do every other dumb thing you've done, but don't read this book." Then I'd have a normal, healthy fear of something less terrifying, like Zombies, or monsters or clowns.
So, if you want to cultivate a healthy fear of aliens at an early age, have your kids read this book. Although...back then (early 90's) there wasn't much to compete with so its probably cheesy now if you can even get a kid to sit still long enough to read a chapter.
All in all. Good book. Good read. Set me on a path of internal destruction. 5 stars because I hate the crap out of it.

I must've checked this book out from my elementary school library fifty times as a kid. It was one of those books that both terrified and fascinated me. It certainly kept me lying perfectly still with the sheets over my head late into the night for what must be the equivalent of five years, all told. Even as an adult, I shudder when I think about Mothman or the Flatwoods Monster, and looking out a window late at night still gives me the heebie-jeebies.
Kids, the stories in this book are best read in the frame of mind you might have when reading a ghost story. They're great for campfire tales, or for those nights when you feel like creeping yourself out a little...or a lot. Parents, be prepared to assuage some fears if kids pick this one up. It won't cause any lasting harm, but it made a pretty big impression on me way back in 4th grade, and I liked (and still like!) being a little frightened by tales of the mysterious and the unknown.
Keep in mind that I haven't read this book in years, but from my memories, if you enjoy getting the daylights frightened out of you in that fun way and you're interested in the creepy and the unexplained, this book is great. Just be warned: you might be so frightened by it you hide your copy under the bed, even more than a decade later!
