This is a great little camera and the customer service from the company is excellent!I have re-written the Mac OS instructions - it is dead simple and the CD that comes with the camera IS NOT required:

1.Download the latest version of the VLC media player (free from http://www.videolan.org) and install it on your computer;
2.Reboot your computer;
3.Connect the endoscope to the computer and then open the VLC media player;
4.In the VLC media player software, click on "File" and then choose "Open Capture Device";
5.Click in the "Video" check box and then select the "HD Endoscope Camera" from the drop down list of available devices;
6.Set the resolution to 1200 for "Image Width" and 720 for "Image Height", then click on "Open"

The HD Endoscope will work perfectly with your Mac!

Great borescope! -High 1600x1200 resolution

Great borescope!
-High 1600x1200 resolution. You have to change the resolution setting in the software to get the high resolution. Down side is delay in picture update.
-Lens is impressively sharp corner to corner. Optimal focus distance is 2.25". Blurry at 8", but usable to orient the camera.
-Mirror works good. Many reviewer complaint the mirror is blurry. Note: There is a plastic protective film over it that you have to remove. Not easy to remove, but yes is there. Once removed, mirror is very good. See picture.
-I used Shoe Goo to reinforce the wire exit from the USB connector and camera. It looks sturdy, but wire failed on two other microscope before Shoe Goo fixed it, so why take a chance.
-I used it to look inside engine cylinder at piston top. Worked great.
-Final thought. I am very very satisfied with the camera. 10 years ago, you have to pay $900 to get a fiber optic borescope to look inside the engine. Now do the same for $29. This is as good as it gets.

First picture is with external lighting. Great details.
Second picture is with camera LED. Note reflection. You have to play around with camera angle to minimize reflection and get good picture. Brighter light=more reflection, but brighter light = better picture quality. Is a compromise with the LED lighting.
Third is with mirror and external lighting. Note still very sharp picture even with mirror.
Forth is mirror with LED. LED on mirror really mess with the auto exposure control.
Fifth is use of ShoeGoo or Goop to reinforce wire strain relief.

Mini CD troubles

I've had this scope for about 15 minutes, and I give it 3 stars because it works GREAT, but I subtracted 2 stars because there is nothing in the description about the driver being on a mini CD! I use a MacBook Pro, and since it has a side-loading automatic CD/DVD drive (as opposed to the kind that has a tray that pops out), it cannot use mini CDs. I looked up this possibility before using the mini CD, fortunately, and saved myself a trip to the Apple Genius Bar. Suffice it to say, I spent most of my 15 minutes of ownership looking up a download for the drivers, and could find no website that offers a download. So, how do I know it works? I plugged it into the USB drive and opened up "Photo Booth" in my apps and it works just fine with that, no drivers needed. So, the fact that I can't use the software that came with the camera gets -1 star, and the fact that the description says "CD" and not "mini CD," thereby making people like me unable to use the software purchased, gets -1 star.

Side note: This iScope camera gets a great image, and I've already used it to look into my sink drain! And to add, it looks like a home-made mini CD, not one you'd think comes from the manufacturer. It says it's a "recordable" disk on it. I've added a picture for you to judge for yourself whether this seems legitimate.

A good examination camera for a good price.

I bought this to add to my toolkit for general automotive and electronic device inspection. It will come in handy for examining the internals of a devices that you would otherwise have to completely disassemble. It works well and has good resolution. I was hoping that it would also work with my Mac laptop but while MacOS recognizes it as a camera it won't display the image or displays it incorrectly (I also tried it on my older Mac Mini). It works fine with the included software on my Windows 7 laptop computer.

The LED lights are more than bright enough and are dim-able with a small thumbwheel housed in the USB connector. The cable is just stiff enough to thread the camera into tight places.

Great Little Product!

I had another Crenova product which worked well and for a nominal price got this one. Frankly it is fantastic! It is a long fiber optic device with a camera on the end and with led lights around the periphery of the camera. The video, still and motion, is reasonably good. I use it to examine various animal and plant species and it does exactly what I required.

1. The software comes on a disk. I reloaded it to a file on my PC and opened it there. If you try to load the disk it assumes the disk is where it is on your PC and then tries to write to the disk. Won't work. You must have a separate location on your PC and remember where it was to load it each time.

2. If you do not have the fiber loop connected it will first bring up your camera. Then when you connect the loop with USB it brings up the loop automatically. Have not tried my existing SW and see if it recognizes the loop cameras, it should.

3. Make sure you have a file set to store video or pics. You and get lots very fast. Also video is stored MPEG.

4. The fiber band is supported with some material that allows it to be snaked down various entries, such as a chipmunk hole. One can get some interesting naturalist type video this way. Not to mention aggravating the chipmunk!

Overall for the price it is fantastic. Worth the but, even a spare!
