Tension spring stabilizes jaw and knurl adjusts easily. Alloy steel and heat treated. Proportioned dimensions for greatest strength and minimum weight. Chrome plated finish resists rust and corrosion. Polished head and regular, satin finished handle.

From the Manufacturer

World famous Crescent brand adjustable wrenches are made of fine alloy steel to give extra strength and wear. Used by professional mechanics, industrial tradesmen and home mechanics. A tension spring under knurl helps prevent jaw opening from changing adjustment. An open handle design permits easier knurl adjustment.

I looked carefully at the picture of the product at AMAZON, It is clearly marked "U.S.A.". I called the manufacturer. I was told by a lady rep. that all Crescent wrenches are made in the United States but some are from Mexico. On their own website they show the 4" Chrome Finish Adjustable Wrench Catalog Number: AC14 clearly marked 10in. Crescent(r) U.S.A.. They [Crescent] don't even picture the correct wrench.
http://www.crescenttool.com/crescent-ac14-4-chrome-finish-adjustable-wrench.html
Per Amazon the wrench is shipped and sold from BIC Warehouse.
BIC Warehouse seems to be a place selling almost everything from key rings & chains to office supplies per their website.
Per the receipt my wrench was shipped from SJS Commercial. Per the internet: "SJS Commercial is under construction" (per their website)
By the way... Crescent website lists this wrench for $28.48.
Snap On lists a durable black phosphate finish 4" Adj Wrench GAJ4A for $17.80
By the way... I am a licensed Aircraft Mechanic, however my career was as a heavy equipment mechanic for forklifts through heavy mining equipment. Quality tools were mandatory, not this type of 'bait and switch' Chines junk
I am extremely(!!!!!) displeased with everybody from Amazon, Crescent, China... etc.

1 star for getting the size right but an F for miss leading buyer on where it was made. This was the outlet store that was miss leading. I give Amazon an A for protecting it's customers and doing a great job on taking care of issues.
This wrench was made in china, but the wrench in the picture had USA stamped on it.

It says on the wrench made in USA but it's not. I order 3 because the would be a good Christmas present. But all made in China. Don't waste your time.

Don't let the picture fool you as it did me. I see all the reviews that also say that this tool is Made in the U.S.A. The Cresent Tool Company must have recently sold out to The Great China with the rest of the great American companies. I really like to support the U.S.A., especially when it comes to hand tools, because it is one of the last things that a man can find that still is Made in the U.S.A. That I guess is fading by the wayside with the rest of the products.

CHINA JUNK! This is another China Fraud ! This tool is clearly marked on the package (required by law) it is made in CHINA. NOT an American made tool. Looks like "Crescent" has sold out like so many and prostituted its good name to allow junk to be made in China and sold as though it were a quality American made tool by Americans. The price is hight for such a little tool, but I was willing to pay as I have the identical tool (purchased in 1970) when it was still made in America and have used it all these years. My Son kept borrowing it, so I went to buy him one like mine and in the "Questions" section, a writer says it is Made in the USA, so I paid the high price and received it today. "Made in China".

In the sellers defense, I re read the complete listing and there is no mention of Made In USA, so it is the fault of the Writer in the Questions section. Don't support Crescent's sell out of American jobs to China so we can all be fooled that we are buying American and not this Harbor Freight Tools $1.00 junk.

This is a nice little wrench that's small and light enough to throw into my bike's tool sock to supplement or replace the multi-box wrench I carry.

It seems nicely made and sturdy. The slide feels a little loose to the hand (which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars) but works well enough when in actual use to hold, tighten, or loosen a bolt head or nut.

When I heard the bulk of the Crescent wrench production was moving to China, I started tracking down the US made versions, and not just because I'm a Patriot. There is a distinct difference between the US and Chinese versions. When they moved production to China, they also did a slight redesign to lower costs (probably shipping). The Chinese version is lighter and thinner (i.e. - cheaper to ship), which makes it weaker and hurts my hands more when I have to apply a lot of force. This lighter design also makes it feel cheap compared to a US made one. This is true of all of the sizes I've compared (yes, I've held the US and Chinese versions side by side in the stores).

It's probably fine for most home users, which is who these are made for and sold to through the big boxes like Lowe's and Menard's. The US made ones are now produced in smaller numbers and primarily sold to I/C users through industrial suppliers.

Since I prefer the US made ones and I know they're getting hard to come by locally (I literally bought the last ones from my local h/w stores), I saw these on Amazon and decided to pick up some.

I've been using these my entire adult life. The cheap imitations are too flimsy to be of any use. Very handy to have in a machine shop for odd-sized nuts for which you don't have a set wrench, and rigid enough to never harm the nut.
