For over 80 years, enameled cast iron has been the foundation of Le Creuset's product line. Each piece is formed in two sand molds which are used only once and then the sand is recycled. Once removed from the mold the piece is polished and finished by hand, and then enameled and fired twice. Got it in the kitchen and washed it up and got it ready for a slow cooked chuck roast. After all the fixin's and prep work, 3 ½ hours later the roast just fell apart. Brought back memories of Sunday afternoon meals with the family. Anyway, I have big future cooking plans for The Big Orange. Oh, yeah, it was an easy clean-up, too. Sure the price may be a little bit spend, but anything good in life costs just a little extra. Try it, you'll like it!!
