I have a new induction cooktop and needed the appropriate cookware for it. I initially went with a cheaper set and wasn't happy with the clean up. I ordered this one piece of Le Creuset to see how I would like it. I LOVE this piece for several reasons. 1) It works really well on my cooktop and I can keep the setting low 2) This particular pan is a great saucepan but because of its wide base, it makes a great skillet (almost 10 inches) 3) Clean up is a breeze 4) Love the color!

LOVE this pan! I use it for everything from browning meat, to stir frying and making soups on the stove top - and, I use it in the oven for casseroles, meatloaf and cooking bacon (slow cooking bacon in the oven is less messy then stove top bacon splattering all over the place). The enameled interior makes it super easy to clean up - even when I overcooked meat in it and it got pretty black and crusty. Alright, so it happened just once (so far). And when it did, I removed as much of the burnt contents as possible and added a few drops of Dawn dish-washing liquid and a few cups of water. Turned the heat on medium on the stove top and let the water boil for about 15 minutes and turned it off. It takes a while for these heavy cast iron pans to cool down, but when it did, I wiped the gunk out with a paper towel. Impressive.

I've had other basic seasoned black cast iron pans (still have them but they require maintenance), plus a few other cheaper enameled ones (that chipped and didn't last). OK, I admit I didn't want to shell out this much cash for a single pan, but I've had my eye on these Le Creuset pans for like forever. Got this one for Christmas from my wife last year and after 7 months of heavy use - it still looks as blue and as good as new. The interior color is pale tan and it also looks the same as the day I got it.

As others have noted, these pans are super heavy when they are empty. Especially heavy when full of food. If you don't have strong arms or help in the kitchen, this might be a problem. The vent hole doesn't bother me at all. I've never had anything boiling out of the hole and onto the stove top. The lid is heavy and if it didn't have the tiny vent, it might build up some pressure. No thanks, but I'll save the pressure cooker for that.

Le Creuset makes the best pans, period.
We have large and small stockpots, a large fryer and now this sauce pan (saucier).
The one I use most is the saucier.
It's easy to clean (virtually nonstick), heats evenly, and will last forever.
And it looks great, going from stove or oven to table.
Yes, it is expensive. But it will be the last one you buy.

This is one of my favorite pans. The pan is wide enough to use whisks for sauces to get a good coverage while whisking the sauces. The sauces and gravies for some reason come out much smoother and creamier in the pan. I use this pan and the dutch oven for most of my cooking. Making homemade tomato sauces is also great due to how wide the pan is and makes it easy to mash the tomatoes while cooking. I even use this to cook up ground meat and I don't have any issues with clean up.

Obviously, Le Creuset stuff is beautiful and sure to impress your fellow kitchen snobs. But does it cook well? My wife and I have given this pan a good workout, and are very pleased with the results. Heat is distributed and retained beautifully, and you get the benefits of cast-iron cookware without the hassle of seasoning (and rusting when you accidentally leave some moisture on the pan). Cleanup is a breeze with this pan, as well. Yes, you will pay more for this pan -- but it is well worth the money if you are serious about cooking. There is a reason why top chefs swear by Le Creuset. And if you are just starting out buying cookware, it's pointless to waste money on inferior cookware that you will just have to replace a few years later -- make the investment now, and it will pay off in the long run.

Le Creuset shows their worth and quality again.
This is a fantastic pan. It is somewhat heavy but the difference in temperature needed and evenness in heat compared to my other pans is outstanding. We use for pasta sauce and bolognese and it is perfect. Makes enough for 4-6 people in the 3qt size, which is perfect for a couple who likes left-overs or entertaining. Additionally, clean up is breeze - let it soak for a few minutes for dried on stuff, but if you rinse it out immediately there is not scrubbing needed. Love this pan and brand!

I use this at least once a week to make soup, sauce, or sautes. It's a bit of an investment, but it will last a lifetime if used properly. It cleans easily and because it is enameled, you don't have to season it. It's very versatile and a staple in my kitchen.

I bought this for my daughter when she graduated from college and got her first apartment 10 years ago. Just now reviewing the product. She is now a young married professional with her own home, and she still uses these daily and loves them. The cast-iron enameled pots and pans and skillets work best with a gas stove.
