Each piece from our extensive range of high-quality enameled cast iron cookware is designed for ease and versatility of use, fitting in with all styles of cooking, all types of cooking appliances and any style of kitchen or dining decor. Please read this section before using your cookware for the first time. The information it contains will help you achieve the best possible cooking results.

Enameled cast iron is a remarkable and robust material that performs well with modern requirements for food preparation and cooking. Whether you choose to stir-fry, slow-cook a casserole, sear a steak or bake a cake, there is a shape that is suitable. Cast iron performs well for either slow cooking or high-temperature searing.

Cast iron can be used reliably on any heat source, including induction, and with any oven or grill. It has the ability to retain heat efficiently, which allows for use of lower heat settings in stovetop and oven cooking. On the table, a hot covered dish will keep food hot for second servings.

Cast iron can also be used to keep foods cold. A chilled dish becomes an ideal cold food server on a hot summer day. It can also be placed in the freezer for food storage or advanced food preparation

High heat temperatures should only be used for boiling water for vegetables or pasta, or for reducing the consistency of stocks or sauces. High heats should never be used to preheat a pan before lowering the heat for cooking. Cast iron retains heat so efficiently that overheating will cause food to burn or stick.

The vitreous enamel surface is impermeable and therefore ideal for raw or cooked food storage, and for marinating with acidic ingredients such as wine.

I love the blue color~~I initially thought a 3.5 quart pot is too big, but it turns out that it's just good for 2. I simply dumped everything in, stuffed into my over --- all done, yummy! This is my first dutch oven and I love it! I read many reviews before buying it but simply found it too expensive...then Amazon suddenly gave a discount, happy ^^

This 2.75-quart oval Dutch oven is the perfect size to cook enough home-made chicken soup to sustain one weary human being for two days. It will also roast a chicken or other small roast. Good for soup or stew because of the high straight sides, and beautiful on the stove. I love it. Watch for a good sale, then buy quality.

100 % satisfied with this purchase.

I am a serious cook, with many years experience and still smile every time I take this out to prepare a dish. It has smooth even heating, superb heat transference and all the dishes I've made in it turned out incredibly well. I wish I had owned this many years ago! The 3 1/2 Quart Oval is easy to lift either off the stove or to place in and out of the oven. I chose the red and the finish is beautiful. The oval shape makes it easier to place meats in and is perfect for a whole chicken.Cleaning it is simple and it breezes right through the dishwasher coming out like brand new.

One of those reviews I wish I could give it even more than five stars!

This is my third Le Creuset Dutch oven, and I use each for different things, both because of the size and the shape. I got this one specifically to bake oval loaves of bread, but it's still great for casseroles and other Dutch oven-friendly recipes, either with or without a lid. Le Creuset, because it's cast iron under the enamel, retains and distributes heat well. The enamel itself is sturdy, although I take great care not to chip it. Based on my experience with older Le Creuset, it can stain; I'm not worried about it because I don't use this Dutch oven for display. All I care about is how well it works -- and it's fabulous.

This oval shaped Dutch Oven by Le Creuset is wonderful! I've already roasted chicken and vegetables and baked sourdough bread in it and it turns out great all the time. I now own two Le Creuset dutch ovens, primarily for baking sourdough bread, and I wouldn't think of baking bread any other way.

Was a bit skeptical of its authenticity as the paint job didn’t look up to par. Another le creuset product had a review about the same concern and uploaded a perfect example of what mine looks like, splotchy with hints of black and some other minor discolorations (I purchased the color flame). I own another le creuset Dutch round oven (6.75qt) and am able to compare the two for its overall quality.
So far I’ve only used this once to make pasta sauce and it cooked nicely and I was able to clean it without any hassle. I personally didn’t like the color flame at first but after having it in the kitchen I’m happy to say that it’s made cooking an enjoyable experience. The color flame is so rich and vibrant. Overall pleased with this purchase!

Le Creuset seems to be discontinuing this size of the oval Dutch oven, but it’s so perfect for small meals! You could roast a small chicken or game hen in here, and it’s great for one-pot meals. The oval shape means more options for sizes of items you put in it over a round one of this size.

I recommend at least one oval Dutch oven to any home chef.
