The French really know quality and how to produce it. In my brief visits to Europe I got the impression that people over there buy quality items because, although initially expensive, in the long run they last forever if used correctly. And so it is with Le Creuset’s cookware. I enjoy using these because I’ve learned how to do so. With cast iron you must be patient but you will be rewarded in the end. Cooks, who are in a hurry, slam a pot on the burner, turn the burner to “High” will never be satisfied, but then they are rarely ever satisfied with anything in life. One must learn to approach cooking with the thought of having fun in the kitchen which starts by placing your Le Creuset pot on the burner and turning the heat up to Medium or Medium High if wanting to brown some meat. The turn on your kitchen timer to 5 minutes, and pour yourself a glass of you favorite wine and settle down with your cookbook to review the procedure you must follow when the timer goes off. This is done with the understanding that all of your ingredients have been measured out and are at the ready. You will be amazed with the pleasure you will experience in the kitchen when preparing your meals and all made more pleasant by the cookware you are using. Do yourself a favor and get one of these and open up a whole new way of cooking, relaxed, and feeling a bit of a buzz.

A friend had given us a white Le Creuset French Oven twenty years ago--still much in use and good as ever-- which evidently was coveted by our daughter, who, on her fortieth birthday, asked for one
We realized this pot, in beautiful blue, would outlast us, hence would be something our daughter and grandchildren would remember us by

So I "had" this exact pot in the red color. We owned for approximately 6 years. After about 4 years, the paint was wearing pretty bad on the bottom. Pot was still usable but the food would stick worse and worse. Finally, after making Mexican rice, two chips developed. I got around to returning the pot (Dec 2014). They make you ship it back to them! They make you wait over a month! Then I got this:
QUOTE: "Be advised that the item has been evaluated and our QA Department deemed that your item would qualify for a reduced cost replacement which would be $115.00 since it did not qualify as a workmanship defect. You can either wait for the letter to be sent or proceed by submitting a check or money order in the quoted amount to" END QUOTE

They keep the pot. So you have to pay up. The original pot cost me $214.99 before tax, Shipping $13.70, Handling $4.00, tax $1.24. For a total of $233.93 on 12/17/2006. This is not an investment. I feel ripped off.

I bought this for my wife's birthday. I know what you're thinking but not only did she NOT hit me over the head with it (which would have been deadly, this thing weighs a ton!), she was thrilled to receive it! She'd talked about getting one for some time but I knew she wouldn't buy it for herself at that price. I even knew which color she wanted because we'd looked at them at a few different stores...now that I think about it she probably dropped so many hints I didn't have any choice except buying this French oven. I'm starting to feel a little manipulated actually...Anyway, she's happy, her mother is happy with me and the pot roast was delicious so I'm happy. Great Product!

I have started making nearly everything in my le creuset. Short ribs, chili, vegetable soup, chicken tagine, everything comes out WONDERFUL. I think I'm less nervous about trying out new recipes because this thing never fails me. Also, I had heard that Dutch ovens are difficult to clean. Not the case with this one.

This is a fantastic piece of equipment. You treat it right and it will pay you back tenfold. Don't use harsh abrasives or detergents. Hand wash this thing. After about a half-year, It looks the same as the day I bought it.

I am wondering if I should return this pot I'm in love with. At its first washing tonight I discovered little imperfections in the edge, also the lid, and maybe I'm fussy but I think the lid is very slightly warped. For $304 it should be perfect, or is this not a perfect World of Pots even for that price?
