Introduction

All items in the Le Creuset stoneware range are original designs and have been hand-crafted, making each piece unique. Due to this uniqueness, there may be slight variations from piece to piece.

Le Creuset Stoneware is safe for use in the microwave, freezer, refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and broiler. The maximum oven-safe temperature is 500 degrees F / 260 degrees C.

The enameled surface is easy to clean and scratch-resistant. The enamel is completely hygienic and will not absorb odors or flavors. Le Creuset Stoneware is extremely strong and durable, and resists staining, chipping and cracking. The handles, knobs and rims have been designed for a secure, easy-to-hold grip.

Cleaning and Care

DO NOT use any Stoneware piece on the stovetop or any other direct heat source.

OVEN: Maximum oven-safe temperature is 500 degrees F / 260 degrees C. Use oven mitts for lifting at all times.

BROILER: When using under a broiler allow a gap of no less than 2-1/2 inches between the rim of the dish and the heat source.

MICROWAVE: Handles may become hot during prolonged microwave use, especially if the handles are enclosed with plastic wrap. Cover just the open top of the dish, leaving the handles exposed.

FREEZER-TO-OVEN USE: Do not place a frozen dish of food in a preheated oven. Place the frozen dish in a cold oven and set the temperature, allowing the dish and oven to heat together. Before serving always check that the center of the food is completely and uniformly hot.

CLEANING: Before the first use, wash the dish in hot, soapy water, and rinse and dry thoroughly. For most day-to-day cleaning, cool the dish for a few minutes before washing and drying, or wash in the dishwasher, allowing the full cycle to complete. Never leave a dish fully immersed in water. For removal of stubborn residues allow the dish to cool, fill with warm, soapy water and allow it to soak for 10 to 20 minutes. Wash in the usual way using a plastic brush or scouring pad if necessary.

I had been searching for the ideal vessel to hold kosher salt on my kitchen counter, and this petite casserole is sturdy enough to do the trick. I was disappointed that this item isn't made in France like other Le Creuset products -- it's from southeast Asia -- but it still captures the essential Le Creuset style and adds some welcome color against my dark granite countertops.

I ordered one of these covered casseroles to use as a salt crock. I fill it up with kosher salt and keep it right by the stove and find it to be the perfect size opening for me to snag a pinch of salt without it being outrageously big or too small. (If you watch a lot of Alton Brown like I do, you'll know how often he reaches for the kosher salt; now mine is actually convenient to reach and beautiful enough to leave out all the time!!!) It looks great sitting out on my counter where it is always left out. An even better benefit is that it matches with the other Le Creuset products I have in my kitchen. Is this thing made in China like others have suggested, sure, but for the price, I found the quality to be right on par with my expectations!

I love Le Creuset cookware and when I discovered these little 8 ounce pots, I knew they would fill many uses. These petite stoneware covered pots are oven-proof, so you can bake individual dishes in them such as custards, pies and tarts, rice and pasta dishes. I also serve soups in them - hot or cold. The lid helps retain the temperature of the contents. I also serve cheese spreads, hummus, and many other condiments or sauces in these little pots. You can create a tray of appetizers, snacks, and hors d'ouvres, using one or several different colored pots on a tray amid crackers and bread or whatever you choose. I have all the colors Le Creuset makes. On the Fourth of July I prepared a simple "red, white, and blue" presentation of dips and salsas. Whether you serve a group of food items or individual servings, the size is right. You will love these versatile little containers.

Got this mini round cocotte to hold a coarse finishing salt. It sits 24/7 on the dining room table on a lazy susan so is within everybody's reach. The lid keeps the coarse salt dry and clean. Its cheerful yellow has been a spot of sunshine throughout the past dreary winter.

I gave our married son who loves to cook and entertains a lot 5 of these in different colors to set along the back of his kitchen cooktop. He keeps a variety of salts in them and gets may compliments for their smashing good looks. The one drawback is that being made of ceramic they can break. The lid's handle on one broke off in one piece when accidentally knocked off onto the granite counter. It got super-glued back on and works fine.

I've given nieces multi-colored sets of these as wedding gifts with a variety of sea salts. They can use them as salt cellars or for baking. These make great gifts.

There have been many good suggestions for using this adorable little pan, but I use mine daily to cook my steel-cut oatmeal. I can cook and eat out of the same pan, and if I am called away from my meal for any time, I cover it up with the lid to retain the heat. All of my cookware is Le Creuset, so obviously I'm a big fan of the brand. This little piece is so cute and so helpful for many things. Just love it.

These were somewhat difficult to find, searching for "egg coddler" but so happy I finally did. To make a delicious coddled egg, take your LeCreuset petite casserole and butter the inside. Then add one tablespoon heavy cream, chopped (cooked) bacon or ham, chopped chives (optional), salt and pepper. Then add one egg. Then add all the first ingredients again, on top of the egg. Put the lid on and submerge (carefully) to within about 1/2 inch of the rim in boiling water. Cover the pot/pan and simmer for about 10 minutes. Best served with something you can dip in the egg, such as fries, onion rings or quality bread.

I have been wanting these for awhile but thought, what am I going to do with them? I received six for Mother's Day and I am just in love with them. Although I would have liked them to be enameled cast iron, I own several Le Creuset stoneware dishes and they are a breeze to clean if food gets baked on.
I bought Hillary Davis' book Le French Oven and she offers some wonderful recipes for mini cocottes, both sweet and savory. Try her Warm Mushroom Custards with Garlic Bread in these or her Banana Rice Pudding. Très délicieuses!
There is something a little magical about bringing these mini cocottes with their little covers out to the table, placing one in front of each person, and having them lift the cocotte cover to discover the little culinary surprise that awaits them. I enjoy the oven to table aspect of these.
They are not big, American portions have become so big, but 8 oz is perfect, whether it's an appetizer or dessert. These also are great if you are making soup in a French oven and use these for bowls.

This little petite round is indeed petite. Not particularly functional unless you buy it with a particular purpose in mind. For me, I use it to save bacon fat for later when cooking and for that purpose it works spectacularly. Looks nice, cleans easily, has a lid...perfect.
