First thing is first, if you are a fan of racing sims and NOT racing arcade, you will not like this game. If you read a bad review because it "isn't realistic," I would blame the person buying it for not reading what they were buying.

This is an arcade style racing game. Remember that when reading reviews on "realistic" or "not as good as forza/GT series" as this is a different type of game.

I will update further once I make it farther in the game, this is after 7 hours of game play.

Summary: 7/10
This game is Need for speed meets an MMO. MMO = massive multiplayer online. Therefore, you need a constant internet connection to play this game...even in single player. If you like arcade racing games and are looking for a large world, this game may be for you. If you have 2 kids or multiple friends who like racing games, this would be fun with people. Some missions feel useless and the overall the graphics are not top tier (they are good, just won't require a top tier graphics card to hit max settings), but the game definitely is fun with friends. There are short comings (the User interface is annoying at times, my personal disappointment with the graphics, some useless missions) but most can be overlooked for really what this game does different. It brings you and your friends together to do missions (like any MMO) but with racing cars instead of wizards.

Let's break it down:

Graphics: 6/10 for PC capability
The graphics are ok and by ok, I mean that I expected it to be much better. They are beautiful, but just not what I was expecting with it being 2014. I believe this is due to the development focused on the Consoles and not the PC, which is unfortunate...

I had to update my review because of the changes to the game. I have all the dlc for the game. I also own the season pass and the wild run dlc. You do get some of the wild run benefits for free. Graphics have been updated for free and the game now has rain effects. It leaves puddles on the ground. However you do not interact with the puddles. Its not like in Forza 6 where the puddles interact with your car. The rain effects do look good and the cars now have working windshield wipers so the game does look a lot better. The graphics upgrade make it look a lot better. So why have I given this game a low score?

The Ai is back to cheating. Not only my opinion look at the steam forums and ubisoft forums for this issue. The Ai will crash and burn and still be on your back bumper the entire race. It used to be the Ai was on the easy side after numerous complaints of the Ai cheating. Well congrats its back to cheating in Faction races and other races. Its sad. I wish they would roll back the update to the Ai and cheating. Example this game relies on numbers for cars. The higher the number of your car the faster overall your car should be. Its basic math. However the Ai will upgrade their car based on you if you have a lower car or a higher car. I raced on one race course the Mazda track called the circuit Breaker mission . I would win this race easily with almost any car. Now with the new update the 924 car I have is outpaced by a car with a rating of 600. This is ludicrous. Their is no way this should happen. I cannot imagine a new person playing the story mission and getting beat by a large margin because they have a higher numbered car then the Ai. Its madness.

This is an updated review, I reviewed in early 2015. Then, it had some rather frustrating quirks. They have addressed most of them...but there are still a couple. The worst of which are 1) It appears they've tried to replicate roads too well - ever hit a pothole doing 246mph? 2) Someone seems to be too proud of their new rain feature. Funny how it rains every day in the desert.
But, it has improved enough that I am playing it again and bought the game for my daughter. Now we play together....when I can get her off Minecraft.

wait for it! just picked it up for $3.40 on disc here on amazon. this game drops from $25 rand to the $8 range every other week. i had it in my cart and have been watching it change, until it hit $8.40. i received a $5 credit from amazon for D/L'ing and playing a star wars game on my tablet. so i used the free $5 from the free $10 game (on steam anyway) to buy this for $3.40. NICE! and its a cool game. but again, it didn't d/l from the discs it did all the d/l'ing online from ubisoft. drag.

i bought this and after i installed it. it says the key is no good, i contact both the seller and ubisoft. the seller got back to me very quickly saying they dont know why and it was a new game and to contact ubisoft. i sent ubisoft 2 emails for help with NO response. no wonder people use torrent games.

Lacks what I look for in a racing game. The concept of this game was a good idea, however it lacks a few major things.

This game was very disappointing to me. For the longest time I've been waiting for a company to make a game that is open world (like this game), and the gameplay resembles a cross between Forza's immense performance tuning capabilities, while still maintaining the Need for Speed "cops vs racers" streetracing style with a lot of visual customization.

Sadly my search for such a game continues in vain, because The Crew did not live up to expectations.

For starters, the performance upgrades don't make any sense (for example I got a suspension upgrade that increased acceleration, and I also recieved a differential that increased grip) not to mention that there isn't as much in-depth customization or performance tweaking.

Another thing I don't like is the user interface. There is barely even a main menu, and the ESC menu is kind of off putting. The soundtrack isn't great, and I noticed a bug that made it so if you were editing game settings (audio, video, controls) and you clicked back, you could choose to either save the settings and return to the menu or "cancel". This may sound normal, but the "cancel" option didn't go back to continue editing your settings, it just went back to the menu and discarded your changes. I also noticed there was no "apply" button in the settings menu, which isn't a huge deal, but it being so simple of a feature, I feel like there isn't a reason to leave it out.

Another problem I experienced with the user interface was an annoying bug that made me stuck on the map. I couldn't select anything and it was very zoomed in, and it kept refreshing the screen.
