International Addresses: Magazine subscriptions offered at Amazon.com can only be shipped within the 50 United States, APO/FPO address and U.S. Protectorates. We are unable to process magazines to other destinations at this time. Please contact the magazine's publisher for further assistance.

When to Expect Your First Issue: Magazine subscriptions ordered at Amazon.com are shipped to you by the magazine's publisher. The first issue of a weekly magazine should arrive within 4-6 weeks of your order. The first issue of a monthly magazine should arrive within 6-10 weeks, unless otherwise noted.

Once you've placed an order at Amazon.com, it can take one to two weeks for your subscription to be received and scheduled by the publisher. Your subscription is then added to the publisher's next production cycle and shipped via standard mail. For example, if your monthly subscription was ordered and received by the publisher in November, and the December issue has already shipped, your order may be added to the January mailing. You can find out more information, including how to contact the publisher about your subscription, in Amazon's Magazine Subscription Manager.

Renewing Your Subscription: If you are ordering as a renewal to the same name and address as the current subscription, the publisher will add the Amazon order to your current subscription. For example, if you have 5 issues left and you add 12 through Amazon, you will now have 17 issues left on your subscription. Please note that the expiration date in the Magazine Subscription Manager will not reflect if you were already on file with the publisher. We will work with the publisher to ensure that you still receive all of the issues left on your subscription.

Publication Frequency: Magazines which show "irregular" availability are those which are not published according to a regular schedule. If you place an order for such a magazine, you will receive new issues as soon as they are available.

  • Control your subscription settings anytime using Amazon's Magazine Subscription Manager.
  • If you purchase the auto-renewal offer, your subscription will renew for the same term length at the renewal rate available on Amazon. Cancel anytime.

5.0 out of 5 stars good mag January 19, 2003

you can even submit your own stories into this richly unique tapestry of stories. At thirteen, I was published in it, and they pay very well. The subject matter suggests itself for more mature kids, I started reading it at twelve, and I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved these as a teenager! October 22, 2012
By Dillon
Subscription Term Name:1 year
I'm in my mid-20s now but I received Cicada when I was a teenager and I loved them. The stories and poems were stimulating and I always dreamed of submitting my own work (though I never did). I hope this is still around when I have teens in the house.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cicada magazine July 12, 2008
Subscription Term Name:1 year|Verified Purchase
We gave this magazine as a gift to our granddaughter who will soon be 14. Our Library director recommended this magazine as suitable for gifted children who enjoy poetry. Our granddaughter writes her own poetry. She likes Cicada so much she asked us to renew it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for kids to whom Cricket is gotten old hat February 24, 2003
Subscription Term Name:1 year
This is a preteen/early teen mag. Lots of good writing. Well edited, has some tough stuff as written by kids themselves. It's a good magazine and is argued over for the first reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good magazine but content a little too adult for me January 6, 2016
Subscription Term Name:1 year auto-renewal
The magazine is well done. The artwork is great and it is an interesting mix of short stories and poems and illustrations and comics.

My only complaint is some of the content. My son is 11 and reads well above his age. He read the entire Harry Potter series years ago. He is certainly at 14 year old reading level, which is the low end of the age recommended for the magazine. I assumed that meant the reading level and not explicit content. Even if he was 14, I would not want to give him a kid's magazine that had a comic strip where someone says "Oh Sh*t". (I am censoring here - it wasn't censored in the magazine). And a story where a girl pulls up her shirt and bra to show her "tits". That is actually how it was presented.

So, the magazine is good but you should be aware of what kind of content is in there.
