I was so excited to have purchased this. First disappointment - doesn't show that it cuts chipboard or balsa (research I should have done before I bought it, apparently some models do but this one doesn't). BIGGER disappointment - despite the claims there are hundreds of free design options, something like 98% of the designs that came up when I was trying to learn how to use it (not just ones I wanted to do but ALL of them) required the paid access subscription. Makes me wonder how much of the income stream is from machine sales vs. subscription charges. Sadly, returning it.

The Cricut doesn’t come with enough instructions and with enough sample product. I’m not sure if I just got a bad machine but it messes up cuts on a lot of different materials - either doesn’t cut through, snags, or cuts too deep. Design space comes with next to nothing with regards to freebies - basically every font has to be purchased. I downloaded script fonts for writing but you can only use the design space writing fonts (otherwise you get bubble letters) and each font is $7+. I held off buying a Cricut for a long time because of the price and I wish I hadn’t bought it. If you’ve never used Cricut before- be prepared to spend a lot on materials, tools, fonts, etc and be prepared to throw out most of what you’ve made because it didn’t cut properly.

I got this Cricut Explore Air 2 hoping that it would help me eliminate some of the manual steps for my small greeting card business I'm just getting off the ground. Nope. Everything I try to cut from a printed 8.5 x 11 is super misaligned. Even when I try a bunch of the online hacks, it's still not consistent in where it cuts based on my cut file.

I'm relatively technically competent and am using Illustrator to produce my graphics and cut file .pngs so I don't think that's the problem. Lots of people online have experienced the same issue and Cricut support basically has the response of "shrug emoji" and that their cutting machine doesn't support cutting in specific locations or these hacks. If it can't cut stuff out accurately from a printed sheet, what's the point? And print then cut is a terrible feature that is extremely low resolution.

Now I can't even get design space to create the mat, it just stays on the loading screen forever. I am really unhappy with this purchase. If you want to do anything other than cut stuff out of a blank sheet of paper or vinyl, this is not the machine for you. I wish I had held out and paid the $450 for a Brother Scan and Cut instead. Not worth it.
