Editorial Reviews

Released in 1999, TRU's fifth studio album, Da Crime Family, peaked at #2 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and at #5 on The Billboard 200. The double album featured two singles, "Tru Homies," which peaked at #6, and "Hoody Hooo." This album was hard because it was a double disc from Master P, his brothers, and his whole family, you know?," writes Snoop Dogg in his new liner notes. "They was representing, just trying to show what the south was about, and putting a different sound in the music industry. It solidified No Limit early on, to show that they could make quality double disc CDs and also back it up with great movies."

Master P always finds a way to amaze me. P has changed for the worse in the last couple of albums but hey ever one has there ups and downs look Mcgwire didn't hit 70 homeruns again, so what big deal. If you were a real no limit fan you would give P some time than jump on the ban wagon. This album has very good potenital and i respect that there is many songs on here that is jumping. Hey look its a double disc also so what can you lose. Master P has been in the rap game for many years now and flows with experience in his rap and bleeds with emotion in his talent, P is a major entertainer in the rap game today, and this cd is Ok not great people have ups and downs so get off his back

Da Crime Family is a step back in the right direction for No Limit. It will not go down as the CD of the year, but it is a solid effort from TRU. One of the first things that jumps out at first listening is how uneven the CD is. TRU seems to have no middle ground, either the song is tight or it is totally wack. Da Crime Family would have been better if it was just a single CD. Da Crime Family does have enough tight tracks, to justify buying it. Unlike a lot of recent No Limit releases, I would buy this on again. But it should have been better.
