Having a tactical laser on your handgun is a whole new ball game. Aiming is much easier. My wife, never having shot a centerfire pistol was able to put all shots in the kill zone of a police silhouette target at about 15-20 feet her very first time. Actually grouping them within about an 8 inch circle.
The Laser guard fits the 9mm Shield well, is easy to install, bright in daylight and easily adjustable for windage and elevation. It is small enough to not add much to the Shield's dimensions and has negligible weight.
The price is not great when compared to other tactical lasers which frequently cost twice as much.Tactical lasers have to be quite rugged to take the abuse of firing hundreds of rounds without failing.
The "on" pressure pad is in front of the grip just below the tirggerguard, so when the firearm is brought into action, natural firm pressure on the grip activates it without any delay in finding the switch as on other lasers. Gripping the Shield tightly is a good idea anyway because of the considerable recoil on this small, light 9mm firearm, and to steady it from firing low and out because of it's relatively heavy pull. The 1/3n lithium battery is supposed to be good for 4 hours of continuous use and can be had for about $3.00-4.00 online.

Cons; The pressure pad requires somewhat firm pressure from the middle finger on the grip. It takes some practice when drawing to get your grip just right so the laser turns on every time. Standard Shield holsters won't fit well, but fortunately there are several options to include the Laserguard. Amazon sells the excellent Pro-Carry IWB heavy model, and several firms mold tuckable kydex holsters to fit including my favorite, FOXX holsters.

I also have one of these units on my Taurus 709, and evaluation is basically the same for that pistol.

Fits like a glove, zeroes easily and holds zero. Bright enough to use anytime, and adds very little weight. Be aware that these lasers have no off switch. Use this combo with the Desantis Mini Scabbard holster and you have the ideal carry set up.

CTC remains the best made source of firearm lasers. They cost more, but work better, longer and they provide batteries for the life of the unit. Every time the firearm goes off, the lasers get jolted. Good design, and manufacturing practices make these stand the test of time. Worth every penny. When you need an accurate laser at night CTC is the go to source. Their unit for the new S&W Shield lives up to their reputation.

Outstanding. I could not be happier with this purchase. I now understand why Crimson Trace cost so much (this is a great price though). The fit is perfect, as if a part of the weapon. I bought this for my wife's M&P Shield 9. Installation was a breeze. Using a laser bore-sighter, I had it mounted and sited in at 20ft in maybe 5 minutes. I highly recommend this for a Shield 9 - couldn't tell you if it works on any other model, but it is fantastic on this one.

CTC's customer service is as excellent as their products. The laser itself is an exacting fit to my pistol and intuitive to operate. I did need to do a warranty replacement on the original purchase due to a wiring issue (the only product failure I've ever seen or heard of from them), but CTC CS answered the phone in person, listened to my issue, registered me, signed me up for their battery program, and told me a new laser was coming in exactly 4 min 27 sec... that new laser is running flawlessly, which is no surprise to me. They're a stand up company whose products I'd recommend at any time to anybody.

This was a very simple item to install on the gun. No tools need, just snaps into place! Does not interfere with the ergonomics of the gun! I love this laser!

This is a Crimson Trace laser for my M&P Shield in 9mm. I have Crimson Trace lasers on several of my guns. They work flawlessly. With this gun there are two main choices (I am sure there are other choices out there that I don't know of). This Crimson Trace or the Lasermax. With the Lasermax, you have to operate the on/off switch up next to the laser at the front of the gun under the muzzle. The Crimson Trace is much easier to use, the on/off is right under your middle finger under the trigger guard. All you have to do is squeeze the grip - which is exactly what you do when you shoot anyway. Install was 1-2 minutes, you just pop the included battery in and snap both sides of the crimson trace laser on both sides of the trigger guard and screw in the two provided screws. Easy. I felt dumb after watching a youtube video on how to do it. There are many holsters as well that are made for this firearm with the crimson trace, both for concealing IWB or OWB. Good luck!
