Have already made several meals with the crock pot (turkey carbonate, beef stew and baby back ribs). I noticed when the recipes called for cooking from 7-9 hours on low temperature, it only took 7 hours, so checking your food is important when you first start using a new crock pot.
Would definitely recommend this crock pot.
"Both High and Low stabilize at the same temperature, it is just a matter of how long it takes to reach the simmer point. Once food reaches the simmer point, total cook time is dependent on cut and weight of meat to reach the point of maximum flavor and texture potential. (Most dishes can be prepared on either High or Low.) Typical cook time for Crock-Pot' slow cookers to reach simmer point (209'F):
Low: 7-8 to reach the simmer point
High: 3-4 hours to reach the simmer point"
It is hotter than my old one but it's a food safety issue. The dishes are coming out great. I find it the perfect size for my husband and me and can't beat the price!
OH. That explains why it was so danged delicious!
This is my daughter’s Crock Pot. She left it here when she moved into a place of her own. While she lived with me she prepared small meals just for the two of us. She also made larger meals that easily fed our entire family.
I found this Crock Pot while searching for something in our storage room and immediately thought of the wonderful meals my daughter made using it.
Here are the main benefits of this Crock Pot:
-Perfect for making a small meal for two or larger meals for a family of five.
-It looks great sitting on the kitchen counter, no need to hide it away.
-Easy to lift the stoneware inner bowl out to clean it, it can even be cleaned in the dishwasher.
-It is a nice handy size, not too big and bulky and not too small. It’s just right.
I have no CONS as of this posting. If my daughter should let me know of any, I will up-date and report those for your consideration.
I recommend this Crock Pot based on the many delicious meals my daughter prepared with it.
One complaint I do have is the power on this Crock-Pot. Every time I cook a meal on low, it burns it. I'm following the directions right down to the very last step, and it still burns on low. I'd hate to see what happened on high! I've made cheese dip and it makes a brown layer on the top even on warm sometimes. I'm not sure why it does this, but the meals are always still edible.
Overall it's; cheap, functional, but just a little to powerful on the low setting. I'd recommend it for a single person not trying to impress a family or anyone else!
-Easy to clean
-Store in the fridge (be careful wait till its cool)
-Burns food sometimes
UPDATE: 3 months later, the HIGH feature no longer works. I noticed yesterday that my soup was barely warm after an hour on high. Today, I placed my soup in the CrockPot on high at 9a and at 12p, it was warm but not hot. This appliance is already pooping out at 3.5 months and being used about 20 times.
No bells or whistles on this machine, and that is really just fine and great.
NOTE: I am all for finding the best prices, and I did find less expensive Crockpot models at the Crockpot website. And, I did buy two from there originally. I never got them, and the parent company of Crockpot kept my money for far too long before refunding me. Shipping is a huge hassle on that website, and customer service is as demeaning to the customer as it can possibly get--especially talking to a supervisor. I vow never again to visit that webiste--it is just not worth the hassle. My advice? Buy from Amazon, pay a few dollars more, get superb service if something goes wrong. Spending a few dollars extra at Amazon is worth avoiding the degradation of dealing with some of the nastiest customer service reps and supervisors I've ever run into, and one of the most poorly run shipping departments--at Crockpot.
