OH. That explains why it was so danged delicious!
This is my daughter’s Crock Pot. She left it here when she moved into a place of her own. While she lived with me she prepared small meals just for the two of us. She also made larger meals that easily fed our entire family.
I found this Crock Pot while searching for something in our storage room and immediately thought of the wonderful meals my daughter made using it.
Here are the main benefits of this Crock Pot:
-Perfect for making a small meal for two or larger meals for a family of five.
-It looks great sitting on the kitchen counter, no need to hide it away.
-Easy to lift the stoneware inner bowl out to clean it, it can even be cleaned in the dishwasher.
-It is a nice handy size, not too big and bulky and not too small. It’s just right.
I have no CONS as of this posting. If my daughter should let me know of any, I will up-date and report those for your consideration.
I recommend this Crock Pot based on the many delicious meals my daughter prepared with it.
No bells or whistles on this machine, and that is really just fine and great.
NOTE: I am all for finding the best prices, and I did find less expensive Crockpot models at the Crockpot website. And, I did buy two from there originally. I never got them, and the parent company of Crockpot kept my money for far too long before refunding me. Shipping is a huge hassle on that website, and customer service is as demeaning to the customer as it can possibly get--especially talking to a supervisor. I vow never again to visit that webiste--it is just not worth the hassle. My advice? Buy from Amazon, pay a few dollars more, get superb service if something goes wrong. Spending a few dollars extra at Amazon is worth avoiding the degradation of dealing with some of the nastiest customer service reps and supervisors I've ever run into, and one of the most poorly run shipping departments--at Crockpot.
This one seems to cook faster and the silvery finish looks quite smart near my silvery microwave oven, another recent, although unexpected, purchase. I like the glass lid since the others were a plastic (Lexan possibly) and I put slight cracks in the lid at the knob area of my first one before I learned to NOT hold the knob while washing or drying it. The knob on the lid of my 2nd crock pot was molded into the lid design so there was no danger of cracking although the lid clouded over the years—hence my appreciation of glass on this one.
I'm rating this one 4 stars for two reasons: the cracking sounds coming from it during cooking which I'm hoping do not bode ill for it. I was quite close to it today the 2nd and third time I heard the sound and it may be the lid's components' expanding and contracting when my air conditioning turns on since it's actually 3 materials: a metal-banded glass lid and a metal-bolt-secured plastic knob.
I had to chuckle when I saw the lengths the manufacturer went to in improving their lid design. Soapy water gets under the disk portion of that knob though, and I was glad to have my Stanley 68-012 All-in-One Screwdriver nearby although that amusement may die over the years. Still, they made the effort.
The other reason is that its dark brown interior takes more time to get perfectly clean. My last one's interior was a cream color that I judged 'clean' by running my fingertips over it once I recognized the feel of its few surface imperfections. This one is perfectly smooth inside but I can't ignore what I can see, so this Prep Solutions by Progressive Mini Keeper container of baking soda has become my last step while cleaning it because the food residue is visible only AFTER I rinse off the soap bubbles and dry it.
1. It gets way too hot.
2. The vents in the top of the crockery pot that let steam past the lid allow too much liquid to evaporate.
For now it's back to the flower child decorated old slow cooker.
