I've had this slow cooker for over a month and considering all the issues people have written about, I wanted to use it a few times before reviewing. As you can see in the pic the extra hole issue has been resolved with a strong plug that seems like silicone. I've cooked in the pot and washed it several time and there is no moisture inside the lid handle. The pot does get pretty hot but it's comparable to the heat from my old turn dial Crock-Pot and I haven't experienced any boiling over or lid rattling that others have reported. I only gave it 4 stars because the cord is short and the mini Crock-Pot that comes with it doesn't have a removable cooking insert, making it a little tricky to clean.

I was on the fence about this for a while after reading the negative reviews but I'm really happy with my purchase. Also, I noticed the negative reviews are from people who purchased their pot elsewhere so maybe it's a version that was sold somewhere else causing the overheating, etc.

This was a gift purchased at Costco. The first meal cooked very fast compared to my 12year old crockpot that finally stopped working. The second use resulted in the crockpot boiling, and I mean a full bubbling lid vibrating boil and the smell of burning food. The outside of the pot was very very hot as well as the granite countertop under it. Luckily I had only been gone about two hours when this happened. I don't even want to think what the outcome could have been if I left it cooking all day unattended as I always did with my old crockpot. I reread the booklet that came with the crock thinking I may have done something incorrectly but now the lights just keep flashing. Back to Costco it goes. I have used a crockpot weekly for 30 plus years knowing I could count on a reliable safely cooked meal but now I am afraid to leave anything plugged in while away from the house.

I have used this crock pot a few times, and each time it cooks the food several hours faster than it should. Runs very hot! Food comes out tough and overcooked. I definitely do not recommend this and will be throwing mine away. Waste of money and wasted food!

I purchased this at Costco and have used it once. My soup was boiling on low after an hour or two and am wondering what it will do if used on high (will it burn stuff?). I'm thinking of returning it and getting a crock pot that will run a little cooler, since the whole point of having a slow cooker is to have food cook slowly.

My friend and I both have this crock pot. She has used hers 4 times. Her soup was suppose to cook for 4 hours; after the 2nd hour of cooking (on low) she decided to go shower. Upon walking up her stairs to her bathroom she heard a bang...the lid on the crock pot shattered!! They still can't find a piece of the glass!! She is taking hers back and so am I!! CRAZY!!

I've had this running a few times when I've been working and have come home to over cooked food. Today I ran it while I was home and I touched the outside and it burned me! I have never had a problem with crock pots running so hot. I no longer have the receipt, but Costco will take it back. I would be afraid to leave it on while I was out of the house. My counter top was very hot too.

Let me start by saying that I'm no stranger to true slow cooking. I had a 3 qt. crock pot for many years when I lived alone. Now that I have a family I needed larger one. I never had an issue with food being burnt, dried out or over-cooked in the old one.

I bought this crock pot because I got a great deal on it. Little did I know it would be the bane of my culinary existence for the next year. Every single piece of meat I put in this crock pot ended up dry, overcooked and disgusting. I ended up feeding 98% of the meals cooked in this crock pot to my dogs. This device heats liquid to boiling even on the warm setting. How is that considered SLOW COOKING? The appropriate temperature for slow cooking is between 180-200 degrees, below boiling. If you like your meat tough and dry, you should buy a dehydrator instead. I've tried cooking soups and stews in this crock pot and each time it disintegrates the vegetables into an unrecognizable mush. After doing some research I found that the federal government is trying to control how we cook our food, because apparently we're not smart enough to protect ourselves. So they're going to protect us from ourselves by regulating the cooking temperature of new slow cookers. People have survived decades on food cooked in the first slow cookers. You know, the ones where the meat and gravy turns out perfectly. Juicy, tender, flavorful...delicious.

Not this crock pot. Not only would purchasing this crock pot be a waste of money on the purchase itself, but if you dare put your food in there, you will be wasting money on that as well. You might as well buy a roast and veggies and pitch it in the trash on your way out of the grocery store. I didn't know that Crock Pots could fly, but this one does. I chucked it off the sundeck and chased after it with a bat.

My HB slow cooker exploded ... It was set on low, making beef stew, we were out for three hours. In 30 years of using slow cookers I never saw such a thing.
