I've had this Crockpot for about 3 weeks and all my dishes are coming out great. My lid is made of glass, so I'm not sure which model the other user got that has a plastic lid. Also, my lid doesn't rattle, either. In fact, it's nice and sturdy and easy to clean and use. If you can only afford a basic slowcooker (like me), this is a great choice. I really love it and have been having a great time using it.

I hate this cooker. I have it a little over a year. The lid rattles during cooking. It also spits hot fluid all over the counter. The handles and exterior get very hot! The low setting is quite high and I've burned more things than I care to remember. I've done all I can think of to adjust liquid levels and cooking times. Well, I've come home to find a charred roast for the last time. It's going in the trash!

I bought this on the strength of an old crock-pot I had. This old crock-pot was still functioning when I got rid of it - I wanted something that was much easier to clean. So I bought this.

This is one of the worst purchases I've ever made. It cooks half-way decently, but the lid is made of lightweight plastic that allows steam to escape. This steam collects and eventually spills onto the counter - regardless of how much liquid is actually in the Crock-pot. Some of this liquid seeps into the area between the stoneware and the heating element, leaving massive stains on the heating element that can be easy or hard to remove depending on what you're cooking.

If you contact them about this problem, you're told that this is a design "feature". Supposedly without this, pressure could build up and cause some sort of problem if water doesn't leak all over your counter. Nevermind that other brands don't have this "feature" and that the old Crock-pots had glass lids that were heavier than the rest of the crock-pot. No matter what I said, they told me that they wouldn't help, despite my crock-pot still being under warranty. They told me that I should just clean the heating element each time if having cooked on liquid bothers me. Of course the whole reason I bought a crock-pot was to ease the hassle of cleaning it. It is infuriating that they basically refuse to accept that the crock-pot design in defective and that they are completely unwilling to do anything even when under warranty.
I'll never buy a Crock-pot again - the Hamilton Beach slow cookers seem to have excellent reviews and I'll bet they didn't "design" their slow cooker to leave a mess all over my counter.

Thirty-five years ago, I bought the original Crock Pot for $35. That was a lot of money then, but it was a great device that allowed me, during "single" days, to put dinner up to cook before I left for work, and come home to a finished stew supper --- with leftovers.

Throughout the years, I used the Crock Pot until, last year, the electrical heating base finally gave out. The stoneware inset is still with me, along with the glass top.

This cooker is lower and broader than the original, and the top does not stay firmly in place. Steam escapes the sides, moisture evaporates, and the cooking results are decidedly less tasteful.

Same old recipes, not the same old results.

As others have suggested, add more water before you turn the thing on.

It works, but it's just not as good. Nothing is made as well as it used to be. Nothing.

This is an ok crock pot. I love the size of it (I just had a tiny one until I bought this one) and its easy to clean and looks nice. Mine has a glass lid that doesn't rattle like other reviews. BUT even on low it cooks way to high. So you cant follow cooking times on recipes which is a HUGE negative. If you're looking at getting this crock pot, I'd pass and get a different one.

My old manual crock pot finally bit the dust. All I wanted was another manual crock pot, so I bought this one. Well, tonight I made a dish that I have made many times in my old cooker, and it came out dry and burnt around the edges. So I'm going to get rid of this one and look for another. I'm glad I didn't try it on high.

Great product. It replaced a 30 year old Rival crockpot I was unable to get parts for. I particularly like the stainless steel appearance. I like having a rotary switch, which should outlast the flimsy membrane "push button" controls on fancier models. I recommend this product.

I love my crock pot slow cooker. I have used many in yhe past but need something bigger to accommodate my growing family. This is the perfect size for a small ham or a roast with all the trimmings. It's easy to clean with a removable basin. I loved the product and price so much I bought another for a gift!
