1: It has great pictures for every recipe, which I think helps you to decide if you are going to make something or not.
2: The recipes use simple ingredients that most people have on hand, as well.
3: It was inexpensive, and I got it for my mother for Mother's Day. She is a great cook, and she loves the book as well.
4: Best money I've ever spent, because my entire family has really enjoyed all of the recipes we have tried in it.
5: It is durable. I love that it is a hardcover, because it gets a lot of use and it doesn't have near as much wear and tear as a softcover book would.
Pros: Everything about the book
Cons: The price goes up when they are running out of print copies. Buy it when its cheaper!
I bought a new crock pot just because of this book and both have made me very happy. The baked ziti and the mac and cheese were both good. Then I made the ultimate pork chops - omg! They were great! London broil, roasts (either whole or shredded), chicken, ribs - all have turned out well. Some of the recipes call for using onion soup mix but I find that can be fairly high is sodium and the finished product can be rather salty. I usually just omit the gravy part of the recipes and that takes care of it.
So far I'm quite pleased with the recipes and looking forward to trying a few more. I've filled my freezer twice with foods that I've made from this book and I'll do it again once I run through all of that food in the next couple of months.
Bought this one for my daughter after I bought one from them at a show.
My inner geek may be showing through, but I LOVE how this book is bound. You can lay it on the counter FLAT and follow the recipe without trying to balance salt & pepper shakers on the pages to attempt to keep the book open to the correct page. Anyone who has tried to follow a recipe out of most books knows exactly what I am talking about here!
The first recipe I put to the test was the applesauce recipe which is way easier to construct than the recipe that I used to follow. Tastes great too!
I do have one complaint, I just can't seem to make up my mind on which chicken recipe to make for dinner tonight!!!! They all sound so delish!
The only thing that could make this book better is having as a spiral bound book.
If you are hesitant about buying the book don't be take the plunge I am sure you will not be sorry. This cookbook will be used more in the warm humid months that Minnesota can experience every year.
