Just to recap... Shoes good.... combined with sand bad.
Hope this review helps others.
I have had these for a couple of weeks now and LOVE these Crocs! Went to Lake Erie this past weekend and found out they make great boat shoes. spent about 2 hours on a 27 foot fiberglass fishing boat with wet decks and gunwales and not even close to a slip the entire time. Also spent half of that day walking around South Bass Island in 90 degree humid, rainy weather and they were more comfy than running shoes. These are much cooler than traditional Crocs and while they don't dry quite as fast, my feet don't sweat in them and I don't find them at all uncomfortable at all when they are wet. I also weighed them on my kitchen scales in response to an Amazon question and they weighed in at just over 14oz for the pair.
Surfed the web and found these on Amazon for less than $32 - no tax - shipping included. That is more than HALF the price had I purchased at Bass Pro.
Glad I tried on since had I ordered the size 9 from Amazon, it would have been too loose fitting. Arrived from Amazon in the factory shoe box with original packing and tags. Love these sandals - quality made (nice stitching), easy in and out with single velcro top strap, and very comfortable walking around. Time will tell how they do wearing at the beach and in the water, but so far so good.
Keep up the good work AMAZON - you saved me $33!
First off.. I was born with the world's most tender feet. Baby soft, really.. it's my curse. Anyway.. generally, if I spend a lot of time jumping around in a pool or walking around barefoot on rough concrete, my feet get shredded.
I had a pair of north face water shoes that, although protected well.. actually didn't drain/dry very well out of the water and I found my feet feeling soggy most of the time.
These are heavily stitched at the seams and provide good toe protection. The neoprene mesh breathes pretty well.
In the pool:
One thing not mentioned in other reviews... these shoes are very buoyant. You can float on your back quite easily with these, actually. Really relaxing!
Out of the pool:
These seem to drain pretty well and I didn't get that "squishy swampfoot" feeling like I needed to take them off for my feet to dry. They provide a lot of cushion and don't feel heavy on your feet.. even when wet. I wore these pretty much exclusively for a week.. in and out of the pool. I did develop a couple callouses on my inside arches where the buckle is (the neoprene tends to fold over there) and the stitched seam in front of that. This was after a full day of snorkelling/walking around. Not bad considering how much use I put into them. They do provide great traction on slippery surfaces also.. barefooted people were slipping all over poolside while I was as surefooted as a Himalayan mountain goat!
As with most any other water shoe... not great in the sand... sand tends to collect in the bottom and become uncomfortable... that's just the nature of sand.
I'd say these would be perfect for boating where you can get your feet wet and still need traction and aren't going to encounter a lot of sand/grit.
These do run little big, however... I wear a 9 1/2 shoe and bought size 9 and they still feel a little loose. You can snug them up pretty good with the velcro strap, though.
Looking forward to using these boating this summer.
