After reading a couple reviews I was worried about our shoes fitting well and I am here to tell you, worry no more.

The spacing between rows, height, shelves (or whatever you wish to call them) is 4.75" high -more than enough for most shoes.

Width-wise I can get 3 pair of my shoes on one shelf, probably 4 if I rearrange things. If you look at the front legs, each one is 3" wide and the spacing behind do not get used effectively. This space is primarily taken up by shoes that get pushed sideways but it is still 6" of space.

Both of my Asics are around 4.5" high for a Men's 9 and my Doc Martins aren't complaining either. My kids have "flats" galore and each pair get stacked together; fits well over 8 pair.

And the picture does not show using the space underneath as shoe storage either, which is my favorite spot. Kick shoes off, push them under organizer = heaven.

I would recommend anyone buying this to invest in Loc-Tite for the metal hardware. Nuts and bolts always work themselves out and Loc-Tite will keep everything in place because you can't torque this hardware down unless you want to break something.

I love this thing. It's small enough but practical. It looks good, seems sturdy (tested by my ever climbing one year old), and does it's job. And no, you're not going to get your husbands size 12 work boots under there, but I would hope you could see that from the picture. It does what I needed it for beautifully.

***UPDATE******

Two years later and still going strong. I have went through it with my allen wrench and tightened everything up once or twice (a few were actually very loose!) since the last post, but between the cats and the kids and our behinds up and down and being used to stand on to hang stuff, I think that's a fair trade! Again still solid and going strong and looks just like it did on day one.

my normal shoes barely fit, touching the top as i slide them in. if i wear shoes that have a slightly raised sole, i have to push them in and risk scratching the leather. theyre not high tops or anything, the rack just doesnt allow for much height. very nice looking though, and easy to assemble. the top part creeks a little when someone sits on it, hopefully it holds up.

This is made in Vietnam and it shows - good quality, sturdy construction and all real wood rather than compressed fiberboard that you might find in some locally made products. The finish is rich and dark but.

needed to corral 6 pairs of shoes at the front door and growing. This bench is the lifesaver. Now my front door area looks neater, more organized, but the children have their shoes at ready reach when they are bolting out the door. Easy to assemble. Strong and sturdy. Would buy from them again.

Working well for my family. 3 children with my shoes underneath. Dad uses a separate area. Yes there are some gaps in the wood filler between the wood slats but doesn't bother me. Stuck a couple of pillows on the back. Sure beats what we had before, nothing.

I was looking for a minimalist piece of furniture for my skinny entryway, as well as a place to store shoes that wasn't designed to ugly-ily tucked away in my closet. I also wasn't looking to spend more than $50. This fit the bill pretty well.

Assembly was straightforward, and I had no problems with the hardware. It took me maybe 20 minutes or so, and no problems solo-assembling. Allen wrench about 4 dozen times and you're there! I did, however, have some holes that were not punched all the way through and initially was annoyed, but it was just leftover slivers that were easily poked out with a screwdriver.

This looks good in the hallway. It doesn't look amazing or expensive, but neither does it stand out as cheap furniture. The slots for shoes are good and will fit just about any non-boots. Sitting on the bench (for a 155 pound guy) reveals it to be really sturdy. I have hard floors, and it does wobble back and forth a little, but I guess that's to be expected.

The pictured product is pretty exact to how it came to me (don't laugh -- I have ordered furniture that is several shades off and looks way worse than the picture), so if you like how it looks, go for it.

Two months in, and no loosening or any flaws showing. A good buy.
