People with psychic abilities are being targeted by an elusive mind hacker, and the lives of agents from an obscure paranormal government agency are in jeopardy in the paranormal novel, Cross Waves (Mind Hackers Series Book 2) by Amanda Uhl. Working for the government's Cognitive Mind Unit, Geneva and Rolf use their extraordinary psychic skills. When Rolf's sister and cousin disappear while on an assignment in Arizona, their boss pairs Geneva's tracking talents with Rolf's mind hacking abilities to locate them. However, when they arrive at the vortex in Sedona, they are deceived by a false energy signature, and Geneva nearly dies. Taking her to a secure location, Rolf is shocked when their unknown enemy dupes Geneva again, and she almost doesn't make it out alive. When Rolf vanishes from the hospital, Geneva is alarmed by the possibilities. Is a rogue agent nabbing CMU agents? Can Geneva recover Rolf intact and unharmed?
Cross Waves (Mind Hackers Series Book 2) by Amanda Uhl is a fascinating and irresistible paranormal romance. The storyline is intriguing and moves along at a fast pace, coming to an explosive conclusion. Well-proportioned, all of the characters have dynamic personalities that coincide with their extraordinary gifts. From the beginning, the conflict between Geneva and Rolf held me spellbound, and I couldn't put the book down until I found out how their dilemma was resolved. Filled with suspense and intrigue, it is a fast-paced action-packed story that will entertain everyone who has a penchant for tales with super-normal protagonists fighting super-normal villains. Being the second book in the series, it does fairly well as a stand-alone. However, I think reading the first book, where the characters and storyworld are introduced, would more than likely enhance the experience."Fast paced, with many amazing characters, this book will have you holding your breathe while you rush to read the next chapter." -- Goodreads Reviewer

The story involves the Cognitive Mind Unit which includes people with all kinds of mental gifts. Geneva and Rolf are paired to work together even though there is much dislike between them or is there... their chemistry is more than obvious and fun to read. Each has their own secrets they keep and still must find a way to get the job done.
This story is fast paced and had twists I never saw coming. It took me a day to read this as I couldn’t put it down because I wanted to see where it went next. Great job Amanda and I cannot wait until Dream Waves comes out!!!!
Ever since they were children, Rolf Jorgensen and Geneva Ericksen have been connected, even though their childhood ended in a terrible separation that had led to great animosity. Geneva is the last person Rolf wants to work with on a case, and vice versa, but she is the most powerful female trainer in the CMU (Cognitive Mind Unit) and his best chance at locating his missing sister. Geneva knows Rolf is a powerful hacker, and as a friend of his sister's, she wants to help him, if only things weren't so tense between them. Her power has become more and more powerful since the day her mother was murdered twenty years ago, and recently her superiors have been worried she's becoming a danger to all. Working with Rolf gives her purpose, but as things become more dangerous, she wonders who she should worry about - herself or Rolf. Because Rolf has been hiding a terrible secret, one that would mean dire consequences if it ever became known.
I liked the relationship between Rolf and Geneva, especially as we were given glimpses into their history together. Geneva was heartbroken over Rolf's rejection of her years earlier, and Rolf was struggling to keep his emotions hidden. He felt he wasn't good for her, and while reading the book, I wondered if he was right. As the mystery unfolded and things became more complex, I realized that the true enemy was someone they would never have thought to consider, and that ultimately united them once more. It was easy to see how they complemented each other and how much they truly needed one another when things went south. It was hard watching them work through things, but once they did, it was a great partnership and a great second chance romance.
Hopefully another book will come soon in this series, but even if it doesn't, the wait was worth it. I really enjoyed the read and hope you do too.

Geneva Ericksen learned as a young child that she had a powerful psychic gift, a gift that her entire family had but her gift can kill and it did just that when two men came to her home demanding her mom’s crystals and then shot and killed her. It was then at the age of five that all her psychic abilities exploded and she killed the man who shot her mother. Now she works for CMW, the government’s Cognitive Mind Unit and she is about to get a new partner, a partner she doesn’t want to be near.
Rolf Jorgensen and Geneva were best friends as kids until she turned eighteen and told him how she felt about him. His reaction was to tell her to go home and play with her dolls breaking her heart. Since then he always seems to show contempt for her so how can they be partnered together. She only gives in when she discovers that the case they will be working on involves Rolf’s missing sister Julia who is also Geneva’s best friend.
Rolf has a dark secret which is why he is always pushing Geneva away. He is dangerous and could easily lose control and kill her so admitting his feelings for her would cause major trouble. While the search is on for Julia it becomes evident that someone has crystals that they are using to store others powers and Rolf is the one they want. Geneva, like Rolf, is also afraid that if they did have a relationship her powers could easily go out of control and she could kill him so they are at a stalemate.
I read this book in one sitting and the excitement didn’t let up for a minute. Crystals that could kill, people with unbelievable powers and a man with a dark secret and a girl whose powers are growing stronger and are getting out of control. The ones responsible for killings, kidnappings and syphoning powers out of other people was quite a surprise. Everyone fears Rolf except Geneva who loves him, but can two people with the ability to easily kill find a way to be together.
If you have an interest in reading about psychic abilities in addition to romance and non stop excitement then look no further.
