For sailors, surfers, hang-gliders, or kite-fliers, this nifty gadget is a must-have for keeping tabs on current wind conditions. The tiny handheld anemometer comes in a sporty, yellow, plastic, weather-resistant casing, making it ideal for use during water activities or rainy weather. The module also records the maximum and average wind speeds for any 2- to 10-second period of time, and recalls them at the user’s prompting. This anemometer also measures current temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius and wind chill. The LCD screen has a backlight, making the display easy to read even in low-light conditions. The display automatically turns off every 8 seconds in order to preserve the life of the 3-volt lithium cell battery. When I first received this Anemometer the battery was dead. I replaced the battery with new one and it worked fine. Turned it off and put it away. A few days latter I took it out to use it again and the battery was dead again. I found out there is a drain on the battery when the unit is off. So now I pull the battery out when I put it away. When I put the battery back in to use it, the unit will not power up with out fooling around with it for several minutes. It's too much work so now it's back in the box and in a drawer. This works fine when working but, I would find a different unit that is more reliable.

Fun to have. The feature set is good, while the user interface takes a bit getting used to. The thermometer and wind chill meter are useful extras. Ditto the peak, average and current measurements.

The meter works well when measuring winds above 5 mph. However, when trying to measure the wind speed over the pool, the meter sometimes would not spin up. The spec says it can measure down to 0.44 mph. My device won't register less than 1.5 mph, and I have no idea how accurate it is at that point.

After some exposure to wind (what a novel concept for a wind meter!), the fan bearings wear out. It gives out a screeching sound in high winds (above 10 mph), and measurements are probably inaccurate.

It uses up the battery also when turned off. After about a week in off position, the battery is dead. So make sure to take out the battery after each use.

Its a good quality wind meter with a good price. I also like it because its more compact than other more expensive units and it seems more sensitive too. It does not have a protective cover tough, so keep it away from dirt and sand when not in use. Great for kitesurfing.

I do basic weather watching for the National Weather Service. I have always wanted to measure wind speeds, living on the East coast in hurricane area, but wasn't sure what to get and which one was trustworthy. I was reading about this Anemometer and it appeared to be good and the price was great. I ordered it and it works great so far. Had it a little over a month and it is holding up good. It is simple to use and shows outside temp. readings also. The neck strap I love so I don't have to worry about dropping it. I would recommend this one to anyone who wants to measure wind speeds. The only negative thing I could say is I wish it measured wind speeds up to like 100 mph or more...but I guess I wouldn't be standing up very long if it did...lol

This product has been absolutley worthless for me for measuring wind speed from the day I got it. I have very strong winds, probably about 40- 60 mph fairly regularly and the anemomter will never show anything over 6.0 mph. It is very frustrating because I stand outside in the cold to get a reading and it will only show single digit readings. I even sent it back to the manufacturer for repairs shortly after receiving it and it came back exactly the same. I think it's worthless for wind speeds, but I can get temperature readings from it.

When I got this product there was just enough juice left in the battery to make it look as though it was working when in fact it wasn't. It was taking forever to get up to speed and I figured it had to be the battery. Sure enough, the battery was down to 2.93 volts. I replaced it with a fresh battery and it immediately worked fine. The first thing you are going to want to do when you get this product is to check the battery. If it is reading less than 3 volts, throw it out and get a fresh one. A new CR2032 should read around 3.17 volts. All these digital devices are very sensitive to battery voltage and they give you no warning when the battery is low and they are no longer reading correctly. Other than that this product works fine.

We live in what seems to be a wind tunnel. For years we've just relied on the news & weather channel for information but we got to the point that we want to know just HOW STRONG our winds are & what the actual wind chill is. This is a great little unit for just regular people. We're having fun. It didn't start up when I got it so I called the company. Immediately got a RMA# & returned it for inspection. Battery was dead. I had it back in less than a week after it had been checked out & they'd put in a new battery. Fun to have for us.
