I should have known not to buy one of these. If you see my other reviews you'll find I have already purchased 2 weather stations from La Crosse and both failed. But when I saw this one at Costco I thought since it was completely different than the models I had before maybe they are better. They aren't.
It's a roll of the dice buying from La Crosse.Read more ›
Also, the software to transfer data to the PC is (again) nice when it works. Almost every time when the computer is put on standby the synchronization with the weather unit drops (which is understandable) but when the computer wakes up re-synchronization either happens with a long delay(tens of minutes or even hours) or does not happen at all requiring manual resynchronization. Even worse is the situation when the central unit loses communication with temperature, rainfall or wind sensors. To re-establish communication, LaCrosse requires to take out all batteries, put them in a specific order and jump through hoops.
An e-mail to Support is unanswered after 3 days. A telephone call hasn't been returned after 2 days. Web site says they "are experiencing an extremely high call and e-mail volume from Christmas sales." I guess so. Back it goes while I can still return it.
Update: E-mail response finally received after 7 days. A standard form, asking again for much of the info originally submitted, no evidence anyone read the original problem description, no progress whatsoever. With this type of problem resolution process it's no wonder they're overwhelmed.

A great weather station while it worked. The remote unit quit listening to the rain unit and wind unit after about 18 months! It still sends temp and hygro info.Published 11 months ago by D. Cash
