La Crosse Technology 18 Inch Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer & Hygrometer Wall Clock WT-3181PL
Keep track of time with the utmost precision while working in the garden, splashing in the pool, or barbecuing on the patio with this 18-inch outdoor atomic wall clock from La Crosse Technology. Radio-controlled by the national atomic clock in Colorado, the clock resets daily to the hour, minute, and second for continued accuracy. Additionally, the clock adjusts automatically for daylight savings time. Equipped with a thermometer and a hygrometer, the clock also assesses and relates temperature and humidity levels to help users protect seedlings from frost, avoid over-watering finicky plants, and take precautions against an icy walkway. Surrounded by a sleek silver-painted plastic frame, the clock face features black 1-1/6-inch-high numbers for easy visibility. Elegant, black metal hands tick off the hours and minutes. For temperature and humidity readings, the clock face displays two small analog gauges. The hygrometer gauge measures from 1 to 99 percent relative humidity, while the temperature gauge gives readings for temperatures from -10 to +130 degrees Fahrenheit, or -30 to +60 degrees Celsius. On the backside of the clock, the user selects the appropriate US time zone; the clock accommodates Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific times. A manual reset button is provided. To ensure accurate readings, hang the clock in a dry area out of direct sunlight. This clock requires the separate purchase of one AA battery for operation. A one-year limited warranty covers this item. The clock measures 18 inches wide by 2-1/2 inches deep by 18 inches high and weighs near 6 pounds upon shipping.

I have had 2 of these clocks outside in my backyard since December 2005 (over 4+ years).. no issues at all. The 2 clocks outside are on a fence where it gets beat up by all the storms and hot sun... as well as this past winter, we got down to 8 degrees (yes, 8 degrees in Dallas).... the clocks are both still running great! absolutely no impact by the storms or deep cold. The other is mounted on the house where it gets beat up by the cold, sun and heavy steam from the Hot Tub... also no issues.
So regardless of what the website or owners manaual says, I can vouch that these clocks work great over many years in deep cold, strong winds, heavy storms (and yes, getting totally soaked) and direct Texas Sun.
I HIGHLY recommend these for all
I contacted La Crosse, carefully explaining the situation, and asking if they were going to do the right thing, and provide a solution, or new working clocks. They responded with a standard form letter, suggesting that I "try changing the batteries", or "try moving the clocks to a different location". I responded explaining that I had already tried all of that, and I again carefully explained that all four clocks functioned perfectly, and all four failed on the same day (still indicating that they received the NIST signal, but failing to re-set the clock) ... this is not a battery or location issue, it's an engineering failure.
The final response from La Crosse was that my clocks are "out of warranty", so it's my problem, not theirs.
So let me ask you this ... if a company refuses to do the right thing, and replace a product with an obvious design flaw, why would anyone ever buy a product from them again?
Why is it being sold for outdoor use?
I have returned this item.
Actually, I give it no stars.
We followed the instructions and after the initial battery installation, they all held at 4:00 waiting for the signal. Once they received it, 3 ended up at the same time, while 2 were off by several minutes.
The clocks initially set themselves to Pacific Time and then needed to be set to Eastern.
For the 3 that ended up at the same time, let's say 7:35, when pressing the ET button on back, one ends up at 10:35 (properly) and the other 2 end up at 10:31 and 10:16. This has nothing to do with an improper signal, as these 3 had the same initial time. The control board inside is bad in multiple units.
We ended up continuing to use our old manual clocks...we were better being a minute or two off over having random clock times.
It is not a signal distance issue as we also purchased 3 digital ones and those all work fine.
