I own a lot of adjustable scopes and typically the reticles will "bend" slightly until the parallax is perfectly adjusted. Not Vortex. Their reticles move back and forth or up and down 3/4" at 50 yds until it is perfectly dialed in. And it is very hard to find that sweet spot with the AO. That's a problem that can be worked through on the bench, but if I am in the field I'll never hold the scope still enough to perfectly dial in the parallax if I need to move it from 100 yds to 50 (for instance). This could present a problem if I am adjusting the scope on the fly and want to make a precise shot. A slight bend can be dealt with, but moving the POI 3/4" at such a short distance is a bit much.
Vortex said this was because their focal range is so broad. That even when the scope looks in focus the parallax could still be way off.
So it's a good set it and forget it scope, just dial down the power if at close range, but if you like to shoot on high power at different ranges, this is not a good scope for precise shots. I just wish I had noticed sooner, but now I know why my groups were suddenly moving 3/4" at 50 yds and 2" at 100 when trying to work up a good load for that particular rifle.
