Shannon does a great job developing the world that the story is placed in and gives a lot of details to help you visualize the story and how Nina is feeling throughout every twist and turn that the story takes.
The read is fast paced and keeps you engrossed in the story from start to finish. When I read the last paragraph I immediately wished part 2 was already available because I NEED to know what happens next!! The story line was not predictable and there were multiple things that happened that I was not expecting which made it even harder to put down.
I will definitely be on the look out for the follow up parts to this story and any other book that Shannon writes! I have a new author to add to my list of authors that I follow!
These ten chapters are part one of a serial release. The female lead, Nina, drifts back and forth between a world in which she is a highly trained black operations agent, and the other, in which she is a member of the management team at a small college. Nina seems to enjoy her dreams of daring and bravado until her new boyfriend in her dreams shows up in her waking world. Part One leaves the reader wondering, and anticipating, what Part Two will bring. In part one, Crossing Realms smears the line between dreams and reality. Will part two bring focus? Or will it bring an easier ability to cross between these two realms?
Crossing Realms piqued my interest from the first page. I love stories about supernatural dreams. The book is about a college graduate named Nina who lives a quiet life in what appears to be a pretty quiet town. Nina doesn't seem to want for much except maybe a serious love interest, but she isn't too desperate for that either. Nina starts experiencing vivid dreams as an agent at a top secret counter-intelligence division. There, she meets surprising versions of her friends and family and gains an attractive partner who she ends up spending most of her waking hours obsessing over. The one sex scene that appears in the novella is one of the classier ones I've come across. The author manages to keep things realistic without alienating the modest reader. This is part one of a serial novel, so its only ten chapters long. The story entertained me the entire time and there wasn't even one moment where I felt I had to push through. The pacing was steady. There were many twists and turns I didn't expect and the ending was satisfying enough that it answered most of my questions while leaving me with new ones and the assurance that the rest would likely be answered in the next part. I recommend this book for a short and intriguing read, and I will be waiting for the second part's release.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was quick paced and kept my interest. I'm looking forward to more books from this author.
Crossing Realms is a new series by a new indie author, Shannon Ahn. The main character, Nina lives a normal, if boring, life when she begins to have dreams that she is an FBI agent living a secret and dangerous life. The character of Nina is likeable along with the other characters of Lily, Aeden, and Hunter.
I don't want to give too much of the plot away but this is an exciting story that leaves me wanting more. I have read the first 2 books in the series and can't wait for book 3. I highly recommend this series for anyone who likes mystery, adventure, Sci fi, and romance.
Author of They Call Me Jane Doe, Family Secrets and Lies, Simple Pleasures.
