The overall feel of the story was evenly paced, I rarely found myself hitting areas that I wanted to read over quickly to get to more exciting points. There was a noticeable difference in the dialect throughout though. A change between ancient phrasing/expressions to more current ones, which threw me off a bit and took away from the story some. The fate of certain characters saddened me and I believe I actually got teary eyed at one point. And I wonder how much, if any, credence can be given to the purposes that Schneider gave the stones in her story? I found their ability to perform different tasks for the caster, such a healing, protection, warmth, light etc., rather astounding and wonder if that knowledge is attributed to real practices or not.
As for the ending, while I am satisfied with it, I was expecting a different turn of events, (especially concerning Jem Reth), so I was slightly disappointed. Just slightly though. Overall, I enjoyed this series and I give this particular book 4 out of 5 stars.

The story The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne by C.L. Schneider is an epic fantasy book. This is the final story in the Crown of Stones trilogy and it does not give any reason for disappointment. This is how Ian Troy gathers the resistance and magic to save the Realm and free the people from the rule of Jem Reth. He has known that a tragic future is evolving and tries his best to remember each event that happens and save those that he cares about the most. While all this is going on he looks to the past for help with the future. He still is plagued by the magic-scars that he has received and also those that come each time he uses magic. Ian carries the weight of his people and the entire Realm on his shoulders. How much can he carry and is there anything that he will have to sacrifice for peace?
I can’t express enough how I have loved reading this book and the entire series. When I first started I was surprised on how long the book was, however, once I started reading the time flew by and before I knew it I was onto the next one. I have read many fantasy stories and while most have been wonderful this one rises to the level of awesome and amazing. I believe this to be because of the characters. Ian Troy is the hero that you want fighting for you. He has an inner strength that comes through and your heart aches for every set back he has and cheers for every victory. He is a man of thought and action which both serve him well. He has the help of Jarryd Kane and Malaq. Both have been with him from the beginning of this adventure and all would die for each other. Jarryd and Malaq are fighters that anyone would love to have in charge of their soldiers and making the decisions that need to be made.
This story has action, magic, love and most of all redemption included. Epic battles with swordplay and fighting maneuvers abound and I had to tell myself to breathe as I would find myself holding my breath until I was sure who had survived. I highly suggest this book and series to anyone who not only loves fantasy books, but also the wonder of discovering a world that finds itself by one man finding himself. This story includes plenty of action and violence along with adult situations. I would recommend this book for a mature audience.
