I purchased these for my brand new MacBook Pro 2.53 and I have to say it works like magic. I did not even run the MacBook on its original 4 GB, however my boss and his boss both have the same MacBook minus the memory upgrade and I'd have to say after trying their laptops there is a really big diff.

I have Mac OS X running side by side with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. No slowdowns whatsoever on both OS'es.

This upgrade is worth it, and is much cheaper than Apple's upgrade, and also Amazon sells it at a far better price than if you buy directly from the manufacturer. Gotta love Amazon !

I put this in my Mac Mini (even thought the published spec is 4GB). It works like a charm and allows me to run multiple Windows virtual machines without any major slowdowns.

I was confused between Kingston Apple 8GB Kit (2x4GB Modules) 1066MHz DDR3 SODIMM iMac and Macbook Memory (KTA-MB1066K2/8G)
and Crucial CT2KIT51264BC1067 8GB 204-PIN PC3-8500 SODIMM DDR3 (4GBx2). I am happy that I bought Crucial. Without any doubt Crucial is better RAM than Kingston. But Kingston positioned their product as "Apple" RAM. I was really annoyed with Kingston as they haven't published their RAM's CAS latency. Latency could make a huge difference and they sort off evaded their customers by not putting that in spec. It seems they could just put "Apple" name and skip all the important tech spec. I am happy that after dithering a lot I took to courage to ditch Kingston (I hate those manufacturers who are not honest with their product spec) and buy Crucial. I have been running my MBP for last 2 weeks and haven't faced a single problem. It's running smooth, flawless and without any crash. I think not much to write about a RAM. Installation was very easy (watch video on Youtube) and Amazon is flawless in their delivery as always.

Good-bye spinning wheel!

Adding more RAM to a MacBook Pro is one of the simplest and most cost effective ways to increase the capability of the system. And at these prices, an 8GB upgrade is quite cheap to do so. By upgrading from 4GB to 8GB, you can see a noteworthy decrease in load times for programs and files, especially when you already have a number of applications open or are working within multiple browser tabs. You'll probably notice a good reduction in slowdowns and the presence of the spinning color wheel, both of which largely happen when apps have to wait for the system to manage memory and prepare it to load the necessary items, instead of being immediately ready to do so.

Keeping this simple, here are the basics first, followed by the details.

Pros:

+ Exceptionally cost effective ways to increase performance on a MacBook Pro
+ Installation can be done easily in under ten minutes, even for a beginner
+ Very good price on RAM from Crucial (Micron), a proven and reliable supplier
+ Good upgrade path for those upgrading to OS X 10.8
+ Noticeable increase in speed while on the `Net

Cons:

- None so far, a rare exception

Details:

I purchased this Crucial CT2CP51264BC1067 8GB 204-PIN PC3-8500 SODIMM DDR3 (4GBx2) kit here in anticipation of the OS X Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8), the ninth and next major release of OS X. According to Apple, to upgrade to OS X 10.8 to, a MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) must have a minimum of 2GB of RAM, 8GB of available storage space, and be running at least OS X 10.6.8.

This is the third time that I've ordered and used Crucial memory products in computers and the third time I am 100% satisfied with what I got. From a 2GB stick for a netbook, to 8GB (4GB x 2) DDR3 memory modules for notebooks, it works every time. No compatibility issues. OS recognizes the new memory immediately upon start up.

Price is very, very reasonable and you're getting a better product by ordering from Amazon or from Crucial.com directly.

Considering Crucial's parent company, Micron, is one of the few true manufacturers of memory in the world and they make some of the most reputable SSDs in the market nowadays - although I strictly use Intel X25-Ms in my computers - it's a brand worth trusting.

Very happy with the purchase.

Took me forever to find a comment that verified a mid-2010 Macbook would accept 8GB Ram.

Still felt like a leap of faith buying it (especially since Apple says this system will only accept up to 4GB & a lot of reviews were talking about the Macbook Pro) but it WORKS!

Definitely upgrade if you're running Mountain Lion.

I bought a 2011 13" mbp and was soo excited about upgrading it to 8gb that I neglected to notice that the stock ram was 10600. I purchased this ram, 8500, and installed it. Now, I know there is no real difference..if any..and if so it is negligible, but I am still pissed that I made that rookie mistake.

Anyhow, I DO like Crucial memory and have good luck with them for YEARS. So it was between Crucial and Kingston (I prefer Crucial). Ram installed just fine, booted up fine, and the machine is notably faster. Multitasking is much easier and overall very happy....

Side note: I have seen soo many bs posts about memtest and ratings....gimme a break, half the time they give false readings. This ram works well, plain and simple.
