Crucial has for many years produced a Quality product at a reasonable price. This particular chip went into an older custom built medium duty computer that is using Windows XP 32 bit for the Operating System. I am very pleased with the additional RAM's quality and performance.

Plug and play, no worries...sped things up and saved a great deal of money, because we were talking about getting a new PC. So, the RAM upgrade gave us some needed speed and time to consider a future purchase of a newer PC.

Paying only $6.99 for a 512mb stick of ram would be too good of deal; well it was, tried everything reseating, running on it's own and so on with the same results PC would not boot because of hardware failure - ram.
Avoid cheap deals unless you can find someone out there that has high marks; which usually results in high standards.

Our bottom-end Compaq PC, with Windows XP and only 256M of memory, was taking 30 - 60 seconds to bring up Outlook or Word. I added this 512M board in 5 minutes, start to finish, and the restart recognized it with no problems or alerts. It helped immensely with throughput and we've had no problems with it.

Product received as promised. Removed side from hard drive, discharged static, removed chips from package, plugged them into slots, fired up the PC and was up and running! Went from super duper slow motion to lightening fast operation. Thanks every one.

OK, so you have an old computer that needs this chip. You found somebody who provides it. Buy it, already, before their inventory runs out. This is obsolete technology, but if you need this particular chip, this one works without problem. Who could ask for more?

I bought this (I think from Amazon) along with another purchase to avoid shipping costs.

My 12 year old DELL still works, but it has slowed down considerably over the years. It came with Windows XP 32-bit installed. I was reading an article about upgrading the RAM to speed up the computer. The article came with the usual caveat that upgrading RAM did not guarantee increase in computer performance because a slow computer could be a result of other factors, including malware/spyware.

I started out by disconnecting all the cables from the back of the DELL tower and opening up the tower. My DELL came installed with only 1 512MB RAM card, but it had an empty slot to install another RAM card. I then closed the PC tower, plugged all the cables in, and then started checking for malware/spyware. I ran a Norton antivirus complete system scan. The scan took a while (about 30 minutes) but came back with zero infections. I wanted to double-check for malware/spyware. So, I downloaded the Microsoft Safety Scanner Tool from the Microsoft website. The Microsoft scanning tool took about 1 hour (for some reason, it showed a lot more files scanned than the Norton antivirus scan), but it too reported zero infections. Then I went to Crucial's website (crucial-dot-com), plugged in my computer's model #(mine is a DELL Dimension 4500), and the website gave me the specifications of the recommended RAM (512MB PC2700 184 pin DDR333). Crucial's website explains what the letters and numbers mean, which I read. Some things made sense, most did not, which is the way it goes for a person who is not computer savvy, like myself.

My neighbor has a computer that probably belongs in a museum, He decided it was time for an upgrade but refused to buy a new computer. After speaking to a Staples Easy Tech dude, He suggested that the only thing we could do is upgrade the RAM. Bought this after reading the Manuel and it came the next day! Happy with its early delivery I quickly set it up and at first it didn't work. After some troubleshooting, I found out that I had to remove the CMOS battery then add the hardware. So for future reference, remove CMOS battery then upgrade!
