Praise for the All-New Tales of Valdemar Anthologies:
"An enjoyable assortment of stories told from the perspectives of Heralds, non-Chosen and even animals. ... The authors have such varied voices that even if you find one story not to your liking, you are sure to find many more that are."
—RT Book Review (for Crucible)
"Fans of Lackey's epic Valdemar series will devour this superb anthology. Of the thirteen stories included, there is no weak link--an attribute exceedingly rare in collections of this sort. Highly recommended."
—B&N Review (for No True Way)
"Valdemar fandom, especially, will revel in tihs sterling example of what such a mixture of fans' and pros' work can be. Engrossing even for newcomers to Valdemar."
—Booklist (for No True Way)
"The sixth collection set in Lackey's world of Valdemar presents stories of Heralds and their telepathic horse-like Companions and of Bards and Healers, and provides glimpses of the many other aspects of a setting that has a large and avid readership. The fifteen original tales in this volume will appeal to series fans."

Story that I wish would be expanded into a novel: "Never Alone" Dayle A. Dermatis. Valdemar has been my go-to escape world since I was 12 years old, which is over half my life at this point. Though the books are marketed as adult fantasy, there was so much that spoke to my teenage and young adult self that definitely shaped who I am as a grown-up. But as an adult today, it was lovely to see the tale of a very nontraditional Herald in the form of Herald trainee Syrriah. The story itself is sweet and delivers a strong message in itself, but the underlying implication that it's never too late for any of us to be Chosen is what stayed with me.
My favorite and the one that moved me the most was “The Note” by Phaedra Weldon. I had tears in my eyes entire time I read it because it was such a moving story and the end was awesome.
If you miss Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar series, this is defiantly a book you need to pick up.
