Review
As a tour book, to get familiar with the area on Maryland's Chesapeake, this is a practical, useful guide. In fact, my one great regret is that I didn't read it BEFORE my early July vacation trip to Maryland. I would have so enjoyed seeing (and eating at) some of the eateries featured in this booklet.
Yet, that is not the great value with this outstanding book. What I loved most, and the reason I bought the Kindle version after reading the book for free, is the outstanding recipes included within. If you enjoy seafood, and consider yourself competent in the kitchen, you're going to need Cruising the Waterfront Restaurants of the Lower Potomac.
I know of no higher compliment for a Kindle book than, "Although I read it for free through KU, I bought the book for my library." Top 1000 Amazon Reviewer Charles Wm. Anderson

Aunt Lulu's Traditional Oyster Stew
(From the cruise thriller - The Privateer Clause)
"Lulu took four hours to fix her stew; she would first take a pound of smoked bacon and cook it up until it was brittle. To the bacon, after pouring off excess drippings, she would add a full stalk of chopped celery, two whole chopped Vidalia onions and two tablespoons of chopped garlic.
With two tablespoons of black pepper, a bunch of fresh rosemary and a big dash of thyme, Lulu's oyster stew was beginning to take shape.
After this mixture slowly cooked in a large iron skillet Lulu had brought from home, she poured it all into a large pot and then poured in a gallon of shucked oysters into the iron skillet, still having the bacon grease, along with a good amount of oyster 'liquor', the oyster fluid in the gallon, and let it thoroughly cook up until the oysters were all much smaller and constricted."
Then, along with a full pound of fake butter, the new low cholesterol kind that she had gotten used to including in her recipes, Lulu added a gallon of skim milk. --This text refers to the paperback edition.

MURDER DU JOUR: VICTIM'S VOICE
by KEN ROSSIGNOL
https://www.amazon.com/kindle-vella/story/B09Q2W6W6B
This saga is the voice of the victims. The story of the social justice warriors, innocence project champions, and the misunderstood criminals who were products of their environment is well told and documented. There are few chances, perhaps none, for the victims of murders to speak. Victim statements read by families at the sentencing of killers are ignored by the media and often by judges. These true crime stories are told from the victims' point of view, fictionalized, yes, but real.

In recent years Rossignol has appeared on dozens of ships in the Pacific, Atlantic, Mediterranean, and the Caribbean discussing the stories of the history of the Panama Canal, the heroes of the Titanic, the explorations of the new world voyagers, the Bermuda Triangle and the history of piracy, among other maritime history topics.

But wait – there's more! This book is also an historical guide too. Rossignol has really dug up quite a bit of information on some of these places along the Lower Potomac, and there's some cool facts to learn about, which make for interesting stories. Photos are included, both old black and white photographs, and modern-day snapshots.
Plus, there are some DELICIOUS-sounding recipes included in some of the chapters. Most of which include crab-meat or oysters. (I can't actually say how good these recipes are, as I haven't tested them properly, or like, at all yet... but it sets my mouth to watering by reading about them.) By the way, my mind wonders back to that challenge that Rossignol set before us... he armed us even with culinary instruction to take on that challenge... hmm, so tempting.
If I'm ever traveling in that area of the U.S., I truly do want to try out some of these great food!

He knows Maryland's bay foods and recipes more than anybody, having lived and worked here for ages.
Thanks for another wonderful book. Just can't wait for this ice to melt so we can start enjoying the bay again.
The stories just add to the fun of reading about cooking and cleaning methods.
Unfortunately, living out in the desert makes eating fresh seafood impossible- methinks a trip back home is necessary.
