Cara Peterson is on leave from the NYPD and decided to go rogue cop. She is obsessed with getting her revenge on Dimitri.
She follows him to a BDSM club in London where the Russian mob is selling a new drug. While trying to stay undercover, she quickly learns that Dimitri is 1 step ahead of her and get the upper hand. Good thing Dex is there to save the day.
Cara and Dex find themselves having trouble with MI5 agents Hugh and Finley, who are working undercover to stop the drugs being sold in their club. Finally the 4 of them decide to work together and try and bring the Russian mob down, while Hugh helps Cara overcome her troubled past.
Can this Domme put her revenge mission aside long enough to reconnect with the submissive side she craves?
This book is a standalone but to truly understand her need for revenge, I suggest you read Rogue and King first.
I truly didn't think this series could get any better.. The first 8 & all the novellas have all been incredible and Crusader fit into my high expectations from Julia Sykes!
Clara is a sub playing Dom, playing sub. Hugh is all Dom with heart. He's the kind of alpha I enjoy reading about. He puts Clara in her place and eases her mind and heart.
I can't wait for more in this series!!!! Finlay's and Dex's stories still to come!!!!
Fabulously Awesomesauce Julia!👏👏👏👏👏
This book keeps you on your toes. In this 9th book in the series, Sykes grabs hold of the story of one of the characters from "King" and runs with her story following the events of that book. The heroine is broken and out to vindicate herself after a major mistake. She disappears from her normal life to go hunt a truly evil man. This villain was also introduced in "King", though eluded to in "Knight", and his back-story is the subject of "Czar."
As with all of the books in this series, while this book CAN be a standalone, I would not recommend it. You lose so much not knowing how the characters go to where they are when the book starts if you haven't read the series. So, READ THE SERIES. It will not disappoint. The previous books in this series only help make this amazing story that much more rich for you as a reader.
This book has kink, BDSM, D/s relationships, kidnapping, and suspense. It also has brokenness, healing and love. And sex...don't forget the great sex. The characters are not dull. The author does a fabulous job of developing individual personalities and having them come through with shining colors. Her characters are very realistic.
This is the last of the series that have read twice. I started re-reading the series in order to re-familiarize myself with the story-lines before moving on with the new books. However, I was just as moved and just as engrossed this time around as the first.
One of the themes of this book that really reached out is how easy it is for strong women to forget that there is a time when it is okay to be vulnerable. There are times when it is okay to let go of the control that we constantly strive for and just let someone else take charge and take care of us. This book reminded me that there is something freeing and soul-cleansing about letting go for a little while. Sykes does a fabulous job of that with the heroine without ever rending her weak.
My one criticism is the lack of real page numbers. This is #9 in the series and there have been two .5 books stuck in. So that is a total of 11 books in this series up to this point. The first 10 have real page numbers. WHY MESS WITH THE FORMULA!!! UGH!!!
Huge fan of this author. Huge fan of this series. Huge fan of this book.

I'll look forward to reading Dexter's and Finley's books. Who can resist such dominate, sexy men? Not me!
