Crush Control is a really cute story with a fun twist! Willow and her mother have been in Vegas for years doing a hypnotism show. Now they are back in their small town and Willow is doing her best to adjust. It is made a little easier when her best friend Max is by her side. They have been best friends since childhood and it's nice to see a friendly face.
But things aren't exactly turning out great when she finds out Max is dating someone else. Willow doesn't know what to do to get his undivided attention so she comes up with an idea to hypnotize hotty Quinton into falling in love with her. But hypnotism is nothing to mess with and Willow gets a little more attention than she bargained for.
Crush Control has a ton of hilarious moments as poor Quinton turns into the world's most perfect boyfriend. But maybe he's a little too perfect. Every girl likes a little romance but it was so funny to see Quinton pull out all the stops in order to make Willow happy. And even better to see all the insane ways Willow tried to break the spell.
Willow was a fun character and I enjoyed her quirky personality. Max was terrific and it was interesting to see his conflicting emotions when it came to Willow and his girlfriend. A lot of those interactions reminded me of typical high-school drama.
Crush Control is a really adorable, light read that will have people cracking up. It's funny to see how mind control may not be the right answer when it comes to finding true love.

This is a very fun book with great characters. Family relationships, friendships and romantic relationships are explored throughout creating entertaining subplots. It's funny and has heart. Although it's in the teen genre I believe it can appeal to a wider audience. This book made me laugh out loud more than once. The author manages to create very funny scenarios that are universally hilarious without being cliche. Much of the humor is unexpected and always unique. It is also very appropriate for teens. If you are a parent who sometimes questions the content of novels marketed to kids today (ie adult themes and violence), you will find this book refreshing. I found myself casting a movie as I read, this would make a great romantic comedy on the big screen. I would definitely recommend this book, it will put a smile on your face.

CRUSH CONTROL was so good that I just devoured it in one sitting. However, now I'm wishing I made myself slow down so I could enjoy it a little bit longer!
I only discovered Jennifer Jabaley last week, when I read her first book, THE LIPSTICK APOLOGY. It was one of the most memorable books I had read in ages, so I was totally excited to find out that I could dive in to her second book right away. I wasn't sure how she could top THE LIPSTICK APOLOGY, but she did.
I won't go through a synopsis again as other reviewers have done that really well, but I will say that the characters in CRUSH CONTROL will stick with you long after you've finished reading. They just feel so real! Jennifer Jabaley has done a fantastic job of capturing an authentic high school experience. So many YA books I read have these crazy extremes and stereotypes. However, I could totally relate to the characters in CRUSH CONTROL. Like, not every head cheerleader is a total cow, and not every hot guy is the most popular boy in school. Furthermore, the plot is unlike anything I've ever come across (like the LIPSTICK APOLOGY!) and you can't help but cheer for Willow. I was laughing out loud from the first chapter. The situations that Willow finds herself in are in equal parts hilarious and mortifying! Finally, I dare you not to fall in love with Max!! *swoon*!
I recommend this book without hesitation and I second a previous commenter's thought that there should be a third companion book with Georgia as the star!! In any case, I can't wait to read whatever Jennifer Jabaley comes up with next!

Crush Control by Jennifer Jabaley has such a great premise--a high school senior, Willow, tries to control her friendships and relationships with potential boyfriends by using hypnosis. This gets her into many funny and heart-stopping situations. I especially loved the scene where she hypnotizes numerous classmates while on stage at a party. So perfect. Willow is a very likable character, and the supporting cast is intriguing, too. Jabaley has a knack for dialog and romance. The other plot involving divisions within Willow's family was particularly poignant. Enjoy!

I decided to read Crush Control because I liked Lipstick Apology so much. I never expected to LOVE it! Just like in Lipstick, I was sucked in!! The characters were so believable and likable that I couldn't put the book down. I read it in two days. I felt like I WAS Willow. I loved along with her and cried with her as well. I can't wait for Ms. Jabaley's next book. I think she has a great writing career ahead of her.

My beach chair and Crush Control made for the perfect weekend at the shore. The only thing that would have made it better was if I wasn't done reading it!
